Who is to say it didn't, but only 1 was caught on camera. This week him talking with the leaders was caught on camera. Where is the same criticising of that?
Vossy's address to the senior players against Rottingwood, was just that. Binns copped a pointed spray the week before. Very different.
EB1 is 100% correct re it being the leaders who should have copped a spray the week before, not the kid - easy target. Not a good look.
Last Friday he singled out the leaders. Good. His 'talk' with the leaders was needed. Bottom line is though, he shouldn't need to do it. If our on-field leaders are really leaders, they should know what to do and say... and enforce it, loudly, on field. Maybe they're just too nice and don't want to hurt anyone's feelings!
Yep. The on field leadership should have been held to account for not supporting Binns.
I touched on it last night, but scroll through to around the 5.15 mark and listen to Voss talk about supporting people and families and "pressure and messaging" being the least of his concerns right now. What do we make of that.
At the end he didn't shy away from the result. "We let our club down tonight"
There seems to be some reasons for a drop in form that are not known to us.
Maybe some of the battles from elijah and Harry are bigger or more common than we know. There were rumours about players with other players gfs and all sorts of off field distractions that could at least in part explain some of the nonsense we've seen on field. Maybe docherty got some more bad news about his cancer battle? Maybe some players got told they are not getting another contract? Maybe some assistants got they are not getting another contract (don't they need 3 months notice? That'd be now wouldn't it?)
.... or it could all be complete blocks and we all just suck.
It was a strange thing to say and it's like him to expand on that in the future.
We talk about how 'it is not weak to speak' but then we gloss over stuff like this and pretend everything is fine and dandy. This is a big contradiction throughout the afl world and if you want to relieve some of the pressure on the players, coach and club, then perhaps be more open and honest. You'd get some sympathy and some breathing room at least.
I don’t think we absolutely suck as much as our recent performances suggest. I tend to think that we are likely grappling with some kind of divisive situation or issue that has shattered club confidence and cohesion. I’ve no idea as to what that may be so I won’t speculate further.
Crippa, great player that he may be, is really not my idea of a captain type. Very laid back, laconic, and not the best speaker. Maybe it’s me but I find his words just don’t resonate. I may be old school but I relate more to someone like a Luke Hodge. I think Crippa freed of the captaincy would be a really great warrior for us next year and beyond.
The ins are probably those who performed well in the VFL last week. Ben Camporeale the only other one who perhaps deserved a go. So from that point of view they're not surprising selections.
Cincotta out surprises as there are a number of 'run with' roles he could perform Wilson probably should have been given a couple more games.
Indeed, very difficult to know where Elijah Hollands is at. There have been rumours, some ugly, but no real data to grab hold of. There also seem to be those who think he won't be back.
He is an exceptional talent and great to watch when he is in the groove. Hopefully he can overcome his demons have a great life. Would still love him back with us when ready. Fingers crossed for the young man.
I wish him well and pray that he can get himself sorted out. He will need the time and space, probably out of the limelight, to do that. I’m sure the club will support him appropriately in his endeavours.
Busted ass Gunston managed 7 goals agains Norf, our gun FF at the peak of his powers couldnt manage 1.
Your forgetting Toby Pink is a high quality opponent..er cough, clear throat...I think to be fair the delivery to Gunston would be of a higher quality that what Charlie gets each week. I think Chol is one of the leading F50 marks in the comp and Id put that down to high quality delivery rather than Mabior being a sensational FF.
Our F50 delivery has generally been substandard and inconsistent for many years. This has been discussed many times on here. We can win the ball but all too often cannot capitalise. We definitely need to fix this asap by upgrading our midfield with pace and accuracy.
And if you sack someone through impatience, you're more than likely to apply that impatience to his/her replacement.
Fortunately, we have a new CEO is known for consideration and due diligence. Fingers crossed that the mould of important decisions hastily made, are over.
Let’s hope so and he doesn’t get chewed up in the CFC meat grinder.
Haynes made his feelings known. Straight to the point.
Said, "if blokes don't want to perform. we have plenty of young guys coming through in the twos who will play the system we want". Telling it like it is and saying things our other leaders won't.
Jack ticks a lot of the boxes. The one concern I have is his durability Injuries have played a fair part in his career and he's struggled to get a full season in
