AFLW 2022b - R2 vs Bombers - Sunday, 11:10 @ Port Melbourne

First time we play the bombers and first time we come up against the traders Prespakis and Gee.

Both very clueless in what they've actually done.
Quote
"In some ways I was a little bit surprised in the way some people reacted to it, in terms of people we thought were really close to us, ringing some people and not getting the response we wanted back was probably a little disappointing," Prespakis said.

Quote
"I was a little bit disappointed in a few of the responses we got, but I guess that's just what comes with it," Gee said.

Surprise surprise, teammates were shattered that they walked out.
I'm tipping those same teammates will be lining you up on the weekend too so best be ready.

Most new teams struggle in their first couple seasons.
Most established teams make quick work of those new teams.
This one could be the best and worst of those groups making this a much tighter match than it should be.

We need to win this one.

Will be interested to see just how frosty the reception is for the two turncoats.....
This is now the longest premiership drought in the history of the Carlton Football Club - more evidence of climate change?

Maddie would make mince meat of most of our list.

We got bullied against Collingwood last week.

It's interesting that she has even spoken about the 'disappointing' response from some of her ex-teammates when she shot through.  That in itself is a further kink in the guts.

I would suspect that there will be some in Navy Blue who will want to increase her disappointment.

Really?

I thought that we were a little too focused on hunting opponents rather than the ball.

Prespakis and Gee were more than a little naive in their expectations of the response to their defection and they would be even more naive if they don't expect extra physicality directed their way.

We probably need to start a "Past Players" thread in this section.
It would just about surpass the one in the men's section. ;D

It would be an awfully long list. At a guess I'd say more have left CFC than any other club. Captains included. Disappointing.

Found a player in Skepper.

Commentators saying she is a replacement for Gee....not sure she is as skilled, but seems to be more consistent (in her 1 game) as Gee has flashed in/out of the game as normal.

Prespakis has been OK for the bombers, but i can't help but feel she continues to carry a bit too much weight and can't move across the ground as well as the new generation coming through. Might not be such a big loss.

21 points up at 3/4 time. Put this one in the books.

...and just like that, bombers have kicked twice as many goals in the 3 minutes of the last quarter as they did in the first 3 qtrs!

Bombers - 3.5.23
Blues - 5.2.32

Prespakis kicks a goal.
3 points.

18 touches to 2 in the last quarter...and counting.
We can't get a hand on the ball!

We have this "typical Carlton" crap everywhere, men and women. How do you give up 3 goals in 2 minutes in the women's game when 21pts up at 3/4 time. Anyway, we are still 3pts up. with 5 min to go.

Thank F*** for that.

1 point win, with the ball 30m out from their goal.

Maybe got the ball inside 50 about 5 times for the last quarter.
Worrying, but at least we got the points.

We got out of it by a point. One of those Essendon kicks hit the post in the last qtr. A win is a win. Positive though, it was a great first 3 qtrs holding Essendon to just 1 goal.
