Blah-Blah Bar / New Car: Mazda CX-5 or Hyundai Tucson
Morning all,

Shaping up for a cracking day in old Melbourne.

I took the Mrs for a spot of test driving yesterday. Ended up giving the Mazda CX-5 (2.0 mid range petrol) and Hyundai Tucson (active x) a good 20 minutes each.

Do any of you own a CX5 or Tucson and if so, what are the pros and cons.

My observations:
Mazda drives slightly livelier. Nippy, steering is just right.
Nice interior, quality.
We liked how the engine goes as good as dead while at the lights and restarts when you take your foot off the break.
Reverse camera - nice
Very clear phone calls via speaker.
Basic sound system, a bit tinny. Not impressed.
All in all, clean, fun drive, responsive. No glaring issues)
The Tucson:
It's got a much bigger boot, more leg room in the back, air vents for the back, which the cx-5 does not have.
Sound system better.
Drives very well. Takes the bumps better than the cx-5
Excellent around corners and round about.
Steering has been noted by reviewers as too light. It is noticeable, but then again, it is very very responsive and easy to steer. Takes corners with little to zero roll.
Higher car = better visibility than the cx-5
More storage than the cx-5
The navigation system was easier to use than the cx-5
One thing we could not manage, is to pair her Samsung s5 with the car. Thus we could not test the in car phone set up and quality.
The interior was not as high a quality as the cx-5
The Tucson has a great 5 years unlimited I'm warranty. The Cs-5 has 3. I also believe that Mazda servicing costs a fair whack.
Mrs Woody felt small in the Tucson, but you'd get used to it.

All in all, I could summarise it as: the heart says Mazda, the head says Tucson. We watched heaps of reviews and the concensus seems to be that the Tucson is a very viable alternative to the cx-5.

Appreciate feedback on experiences with both cars. Cheers.

Blah-Blah Bar / Dobermans
Hi Guys.

I want to reach out to you all in order to get more information on personal experiences with the Doberman breed.

My young Family live in an area of western Melbourne that unfortunately is experiencing an increase in crime. Car jackings, car thefts in drive way or in garage, home invasions, you get the picture. Now don't get me wrong, I love my street. Very quiet, no feral bogans having parties in their garages with ac/dc blaring till all hours. Thankfully no. However I am aware hat Crime is way up and it is getting worse.

With all that said and given I am away a fair bit in the City while Mrs.Woodstock and our 8 and 4 years olds are at home, I am making enquiries with a couple pedigree breeders at the moment.

We already have a Labrador at home. As those with dog experience will know, and our girl is old and getting still at 12, Labs are the biggest softies and do not make the ideal family guard dog.

I know what I want and Dobermans appear to have the physical and temperament traits which I am after. Confident, calm, child friendly, yet when push comes to shove, will guard my family and property at a word. I am aware that there are working and non working types out there and there different requirements for each.

Do any of you have experience with this breed and are there any recommendations and insights you wish to pass on. Highly appreciated as this is a big investment for the family, in time, money and of course emotionally.

Thanks

Woody

The Sports Desk / David Moyes sacked
And there you have it. Gawn before end of his maiden season. Poor sod. Wonder what his golden handshake will be. And even more so, who will replace him. Imagine Klopp coming on board. No German manager will take nonsense from sulky premadona players. Question is who would be crazy enough to take on the challenge? Glazer family don't appear to be a nice bunch...

Blah-Blah Bar / Recommended Landscape Gardeners In Melbourne
Hi guys. I'm gonna spend a fair bit on getting my backyard finally done up and was hoping some of you can recommend a Landscape Gardener in the west of Melbourne. I've heard of 2 so far, but want to see evidence of a couple more before I decide.

Blah-Blah Bar / bodybuilder-breaks-into-german-chancellor-angela-merkels-plane
I had to share this.  8)

We spoke of the bodybuilding juice supposedly used by the Bombers. Well this bodybuilder made me believe there is a funny side to it all. Read this story.

I don't know why but I ended up imagining the police that eventually storm the plane are Michael Palin and John Cleese, playing German Police in a Monty Python sketch. The dead pan stares and dry British wit...What a great story....wonder what his first thoughts were when the pills wore off..
