I don't understand why Collingwood dropped Cox. He isn't a great player, but he is a much better 2nd ruck than any alternative. Nichevo. Let them make a mistake for a change.
Quote of Napoleon: 'Never interrupt an enemy when he'd making a mistake'.
I believe he was seen doing fitness tests earlier in the week, so maybe he is carrying an injury.
Rain predicted tonight. Cox is about as useful as a light pole in the wet, and they have plenty of size in the front half with McStay, Membrey and Mihochek. McStay will 2nd ruck.
We get absolutely nothing from our small forwards, because the ball comes in so slowly that the F50 is jammed by the time it gets there, and they are not talented or fast enough to be much more than witches hats. To compound things, there is very little forward pressure, so the opposition can get it back out to the wings with ease.
At every centre bounce, I look at the half-forward line of Motlop, Cottrell, Evans, Fogarty and the like - a set of midgets against serious running half-backs who chop us up game after game.
We have little or no run out of the backline, and our only strategy is to dump-kick it to the wing and hope for a contest (and based on the midget half-forward line, that gives us little or no hope). Or dump kick it into F50 for an uncontested opposition mark.
I have been saying since mid last year that we need to start playing the kids to try and get some enthusiasm going. We keep putting the same try-hards out there every week, and we get surprised when they come up short yet again? That is Einstein's definition of insanity.
There is no way forward with the team they keep putting out there ATM. Play the kids now.
I know the McKay boys like their podcast, but I can't help feeling with them both struggling on-field, it might be time to park it, they just open themselves up to trolls of all types.
No point having a podcast if it means you can't get on the park.
What I have heard from an inside source is that Harry has mental health issues and may not play for the rest of the year
Well, thats just great.
Hopefully its not true and Harry is fine.
But, i can't help but point to the severe lack of options behind him and the words "i told you so" seem to come to mind very quickly about these lack of options.
Bet we wished we'd picked up Liam McMahon now......
Let's face it, the game was being "reset" after a goal.
How much are we going to talk about this? No advantage was gained if anything a player had to run more to get off before the match restarted, there was no advantage, the play was dead, and im sitting here saying what clown earth have I woken up in where we are talking detail as a reason for us to gain an advantage?
We are all pretty dissapointed in how we are travelling. The Hawks are the afls darlings and always will be.
I think the point is the Butterfly effect - another goal at that point in the game, and we would have had a serious lead at half time. As it turns out, Motlop's goal is disallowed, we miss the 50 metre penalty, and the Hawks get a soft out-the-back goal in the last minute. If (big if I know....) we lead by 4 goals at half-time, I think we win the game.
So, the whorks play with 19 men and get away with it. Doesn't score reset to zero, so we actually won by how much? Umpires didn't have a great night did they.
AFL admitted that the free kick we got from the infringement should have included a 50m penalty ie a shot for goal from 25m out, at a time in the game when we were dominating. We could have held a 4 goal half time lead.
We certainly copped the rough end of the umpiring pineapple last night.
