Robert Heatley Stand / Re: 2024 Practice Match Carlton vs Melbourne
That was his best game for us and by some margin. But it is a one off at this stage.

Remember Nick Duigan being the finals hero against the tigers?
Next week against Sydney he was average.
He never played again.

So be careful about '1 good game'.

Go back and watch some of his efforts last year and there was a lot of under (a little bit of) pressure moments where he simply folded. There was a lot of similarities between him and LOB. The latter also had some positive moments, but they were the exception rather than the rule.

Best thing going for Boyd is that he is one of the only blokes on our list who can play on a small forward in a lockdown role. Other blokes like Saad, Docherty, Williams, even Newman are better off as attacking players rather than lock down players.

I'm happy for him to keep proving me wrong. I'm not changing my tune after 1 game and 1 pre-season game.

Omg he has played 9-10 games. You wrote him off after he made some turnovers in his first game and its like you wont dare admit you may have gone a tad early.

You were adamant your opinion on Young being useless was all confirmed in the first practice match yet in Boyds case lets not read much into it cause its just a practice match.

Am i missing something.

Gawn v Carlton

Boyd, Cunningham, Cincotta, Young, Pittonet, Fantasia

Look like they are deadwood to me unfortunately.

Happy to give them a full season but on that game they were woeful. Can cut Fantasia some slack but not the rest.

Did you watch all of the game? I was very impressed by Boyd and can now see clearly why Voss rates this kid so highly.

Can roost it 60 metres to a target lowered his eyes and spotted a leading forward 2-3 times and snagged a nice goal from a tight angle.

Has'nt even played 10 matches and some on here wrote him off after 2 games!

Guys relax its a practice match. They key is game time getting run into the legs and avoiding injuries.

This group knows exactly what its capable of and these nothing games are not where you put the hammer down as pushing to the limit is when you increase the chance of a soft tissue injury. You build into the season not go flat stick in a game that is meaningless.

We won alot of games in the second half of the season off pure guts, second efforts and wanting it more then out opposition. Drop the intensity even by 10% and we drop to a mid tier team at best.

The intensity will be back up once there is 4 points on the line and we will again be a hard team to beat.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Pre Season Hit Out vs Geelong
I tried warning people off about their expectations of Young for this year, and it seems, unfortunately, that i was right.

He looks like the same player as he was last year (at best) but nowhere near the player he was before that.

Not sure whats happened to him, but he is not a long term option and we MUST be chasing some genuine backups ASAP.

I would happily like to wave my magic wand and fix it, but i think its about time we accept it, he ain't the man he used to be.

Not sure yesterday first 'practice match' of the season confirmed anything and anyone and certainly your joking to write a bloke off after one practice match.

I remember watching blokes like Digby Morell look like Wayne Carey in preseason games then was delisted a few years later.

North 17th beat the premier comfortably a few days ago

These games mean SFA, as long as there is no new injuries in these pre season games I'm happy.

It doesn't help the more people pile on and bang on about it, we might think he doesn't hear or read it but he does. You just have to listen to his social media stuff to know how much it impacts him, directly and indirectly through his family and friends who are forced to listen to the bullcrap fans hand out in the stands.
My daughter and her boyfriend went to the the Sydney Elimination final and she said she was so disappointed with the blues fans treatment of Harry. If it wasn't my own daughter telling me i wouldn't believe it but she said there was loud groans when he took a mark within range and then when he missed they booed him!!

I know its frustrating especially in a final but i would never treat any player like that. The bloke is has mental demons and that sort of added negative noise is just making it harder for him.  Stay quiet when he misses and clap and support like mad when he nails one.

Ladies Lounge / Re: AFLW 2023 Rd 7: Carlton vs Collingwood
Being Carl Vs Coll I thought I may give the AFLW another go to see if it’s improved since last watching about 2 years ago. Omg just when I thought it couldn’t get worse it did! What an absolute crapshow this comp is. How anyone can argue it’s entertaining must be very easily pleased.
Over 60s lawn bowls has more excitement than this crap.

Have tuned off for good.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL 2023 Preliminary Final Carlton vs Brisbane Post Game Prognostications
Yes, of course it's balance, but the original point was, ours was all over the shop and we went away from that balance at the selection table.

We fielding a team unlike what had got us there and we lost our balance at the selection table because we were too focussed on the beating them.

We played a team who finished 2nd and played them on a deck they haven't lost on all year. They were fresher and we were banged up. They are a at the very moment a slightly better team and it showed when it mattered. End of story.

Us arm chair experts think so many games are lost at selection but imo its BS.

Blah-Blah Bar / Re: State Elections
The dictator leaves behind rental crisis, ambo response crisis, health waiting list crisis, debt crisis, teachers crisis, a cbd crisis, police recruitment crisis, crippling taxes most of any state and a train line that will never be finished!

Then we have the quarantine disaster taking 800 lives. No other place in the world had anything like the lockdowns we did and now as a result have debt our great grand children will still be paying off.

Blah-Blah Bar / Re: State Elections
Dan Andrews has pulled the plug after his reign of terror and will officially take the money and run tomorrow at 5pm after spending all of our money and leaving behind a trail of debt..

Bolts with the state on its knees with spiralling debt all overseen by his government- the arrogance and stubbornness this bloke showed throughout his ruling was disgusting. Watch him pack up and leave the ruined state and live out his days interstate regionally before he takes a bigger tumble down more stairs. You watch.

During the last election campaigning he re assured voters despite all the rumours he would not be stepping down and would see his term out.

A liar till the very end.
