VFL 2019 Rd 19: Northern Blues vs. Richmond at the MCG

A 2nd curtain raiser for a change, and the likelihood of being on TV. Not sure I should bother recording it, though. Richmond are sitting pretty in the top 2. :( Last week we played poorly against a team a lot less well regarded.
Nichevo.
The game starts at 1150, so it might be worthwhile to be there early. Then again, with 8 - 12 mm of rain, it might not be that pleasant.

Hasn't started so well. Tigers with the first 5. We have got one back through Stocker.

Being slaughtered by the umpires but that is not the reason we are losing.

We are soft to play against, we bump and tackle opponents and they stay on their feet, we don;t hurt them. Going the other way we get tackled and collapse like a bag of sh1zen and are out of the contest!

Ben Silvagni has really improved. Looks fitter gets to lots on contests and impacts. Said it last week but has smarts and like his brother does all the hard stuff.

Along with stocker kennedy and Dow been in our best on a disappointing day till 3/4 time.

I agree, Dow and Kennedy our two best I reckon, Stocker a bit quieter but has done some nice things and finished well for a couple of goals. None of the other listed players have done much

I was typing while you were posting  ;D

But yep I agree. He definitely looks like he has something.

Dekoning on the other hand looks years off.

When we don't get the footy we are way too soft.

For example you see Dow attacking the stoppages, but if the ball doesn't go his way he doesn't take any opposition bodies, the same applies to several of our mids. It means when the bounce doesn't go our way the opposition take it away bruise free.

It's probably partly a coached behaviour, because of our light bodies, but it won't win many games against better teams.

Agree...much better, he has talent but just needs to apply himself like that every week...
Kennedy was unlucky to be dropped and has played well along with Stocker...

De Koning has had some very good games lately and certainly didn't look out of place playing seniors last year. What doesn't help is when we play Phillips, Lobbe and De Koning altogether. Gets lost with his role. When both the others were out in an earlier game a few weeks ago, De Koning had near 30 touches, a goal and dominated the ruck.

Kennedy is a professional ankle roller, he just went over on it again.

EDIT: He's back on the ground again.
