RIP John Mayall

The great John Mayall has passed away at the age of 90.

Mayall was instrumental in bringing the blues to generations of new audiences. So many great musicians cycled through his bands.

And now we say goodbye to a bluesman extraordinaire. A frequent refrain of blues players and singers is they see it as their mission to keep the blues alive in the face of, basically, modern life.

The blues arise from a place that lives deep within the human soul. It is heartbreak and joy. As long as there is that in life, there will always be the blues. John Mayall played his part. His mission lives on. May his grave be kept clean."
