Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Elimination Final 1 Post Game Prognostications Carlton vs Sydney
Swans are a well coached quality side. Absolutely thrilled with that win. We'll learn so much. Some of my highlights..
- Doc' opening goal
- the contested dominance
- high pressure
- ability to absorb Swans high pressure
- shining performance by those lesser
stars
- non reliance on bigger names
- ability to bounce back or at least hold firm when Swans got a run
- final siren celebrations
- the attitude of every player across 4q
- BT having to be nice to the winners

Such an amazing couple of months. Kudos to Vossy and the entire club for staying the course 👏🏼

Go Blues

x2 except you forgot one point.

The crowd noise was unbelievable last night.

I cannot remember hearing anything like that in a long long time if at all.

It really stood out to me.

GO BLUESSSSSS...................

Razor was going to ball it up.  A non-controlling umpire 30-40m away paid the dangerous tackle free.

What about the blatant throw from Petracca that resulted in the Neal-Bullen goal in the third quarter?

Yes was going to mention that. Razor looked from side to side to see if any of the other umpires were going to pay the free kick. He was the controlling umpire and was directly in front of it.

No wonder their sponsored by OPSM!!

That's how you win a game ........ tackle hard, chase hard, pressure the opposition & attack the ball-carrier.

Fogarty's tackle on Mihocek (?) was first class.

Weitering was superb all night.

There was hardly a poor player on the field tonight.

Sadly, Marchbank made some horrible errors and whilst some will say he has been out of the game for a long time, you may not have your "touch" first up but you don't lose your experience & knowledge. His papers must be stamped now !!!

I reckon Nick Daicos will wake up in the morning very sore after tonight, he got grappled & double-teamed all night and was nothing near the contributor he has been this year - good coaching & well drilled from the players.

Yes and don't forget Motlop. A couple of hard as nails tackles on much bigger opponents, and they stuck. Pressure, Presser and then some.

On Marchbank, a coupe of horrible mistakes. Can you imagine what could be going through his mind after everything that he has gone through over the last few years. Confidence and continuity will make a world of difference.

I actually thought Charlie looked better and more dangerous after H got injured. This raises the question as to how we should structure our fwd set up when H returns and going forward.  Imo I think we should look at keeping a lot more separation in order to stretch opposition defences and minimize the times they are both flying for the same mark.

If i remember correctly when Harry got injured last year Charlie came out of his shell and and started to lead the Coleman kicking a few bags. Will be interesting to see how he goes over the next few weeks without his partner in crime.

Thought Saad has been off the boil and hasnt handled the tagging that well and his numbers are down and its been hurting us badly. That Crows game with Keays employed as a minder seems to have woken other teams up on how to play him and we need to free him up more.
TDk's ruckwork was ok but he didnt do much around the ground and poor Jack had a shocker and looks miserable imho.
Cripps looks like he has a few things on his mind and maybe its time to for him to relinquish the captains role and ease the pressure. Walsh is another who is trying very hard but seems under pressure all the time and his kicking lacks penetration over a distance so he wants to go short all the time.

Re Walsh it maybe his back injury still troubling him. I think Crippa had the same issue a couple of years ago. And Hewett has not being the same as last year after his back injury.

It's important to bear in mind that one of the few pieces of the Teague review that was made public was the fact that he focussed too much on offence and not enough on defence. Clearly Voss was brought in to rectify that, and one way of achieving that is to play safe, keepings off and deny the opposition the ball. I can see the logic, and I can also see that he is trying to get the boys to understand the mood of the game at particular moments, when to run and gun and when to go safe. Voss is following the standard and in vogue coaching mantra of wanting us to be a "team that is hard to play against" and wanting to build from a solid base of contest and defence. Clearly we're a good way away from implementing that consistently.

Interesting you say that Paul. A former coach of ours, MM, said last night that there are 2 forms of defence, 1st is if you have the ball and 2nd if they do not have the ball, i.e.
keeping's off. Unfortunately if you turn the ball over as much as we do then it's not defence any more.

The fans leaving before 3/4 time on masse is something I have never seen before at a Carlton game. That was one hell of a Nuffs Enuff statement if I have ever seen one. I wonder what the Board, Coaches and Players will think about that.

And the booing. Been a long time since i have heard any of that at a game against us from supporters.

Blah-Blah Bar / Re: Weiters scammed
Just want to qualify something, I do feel sorry for Jacob or anyone who gets scammed, however the simple fact is that you are responsible for your actions and there are many many warnings from banks, institutions and the ACCC on scams.

I was sent an text message about my city link account and although it looked legit, as I do have a city link account, I still took the time to call them to check and yes it was a scam because I knew that I had paid my account as the money is now taken out after each trip and not at the end of the month like it use to be.

Most important is to be informed.

Blah-Blah Bar / Re: Weiters scammed
weiters was fundamentally naive.

This is a him issue.  The world has been exploited and manipulatd by whatever you want to call them since the dawn of time and the digital platform gives them more means to contact you but even more ways for you to protect yourself.  I.e.  had he just looked at the app of his financial institution the account he was transferring into wouldn't be listed in his accounts, then hang up, and contact the bank directly and fact check any claims.  Was his account frozen?  Nope he could transfer money.  BINGO

I referenced the Nigeria airport scam for a reason.  It happened a long time ago and all it took was a salesman contacting a banker in Brazil.

Thats all this is.  He fell for a social engineering scam and wilfully involved himself.  These people can't get you if you don't do it.  Ergo you have the ability to stop it which is why I have an apparent lack of sympathy for Jacob and his plight.  Speak to people about whats happening.  Don't do this stuff over the phone and verify you are speaking to someone from that bank and I don't mean calling the number they give you!!!

Not sure why people are saying I'm on the wrong track here.  This is 99% jacobs fault for being exploited.  Call it victim shaming if you like but without his involvement this doesn't happen.  Only person I know these days who is surprised by the volume of spam they receive is my mother.

Blah-Blah Bar / Re: Weiters scammed
So much of the kids live and die by what happens online now, far more get scammed than they realise, and anyone who knows a smidgen about cyber crime knows nobody is safe.

The big problem globally is that Russia and North Korea basically fund state activities using cyber crime. North Korea have pulled off massive heists cleaning out bullion and cash from even the reserve banks of countries, all protected by people who think it couldn't happen to them!

There was a great documentary made about this a couple of years back, it is called the Lazarus Heist, have a listen!  To cover their tracks, the Russians basically make all the same tools freely available on the Dark Web, the more people that use them the greater the smokescreen for their own activities.

The only thing that keeps you safe, is not attracting the crooks attention.

Jacob Weitering was both very studious and very academic at school, a good student who actually prioritised his studies over football. He scored highly in ATAR, he's not one to be gullible or careless. The people that scammed Weiters didn't do it with a simple click of a mouse, they apparently set him up over months of messages and correspondance.

And not once did he ring his bank to check on this.?

Golden rule always call your institution first no matter what.
