Why can't some of our games be played at Princes Park? If Geelong get to play all their games at their Dung heap due to the no crowd policy then....?
2024... Moir of the same to come

We don't have a fanboy in the Big House.

When we did have someone in there he just sat on his hands and did squat because doing something to help us would have been unethical, unethical like the actions of his predecessors and successors! His motives for why he took this stance can only be speculated.

In the meantime other clubs play politics and put people on the AFL administration inside track, giving them access to privileges and priority treatment that they actively block for us.

In the AFL and AFLW, nice guys finish last, we've allowed our club to be bullied into passive submission, on-field and off we play like good boys and girls and get walked over. We use to be the nasty ones winning the flags! This doesn't mean you have to cheat, but you do need to be actively aggressive, like Selwood and Hodge. I realise Hodge isn't the best full-time example, but 95% of the time he didn't do the dog acts, why he slipped is his own failing. Diesel, Dominator, Maclure, Buckley and The Hyphen would be some of our own in-house examples.

Round 2: Melbourne, Marvel Stadium (home), Saturday June 13 at 4:35pm

Round 3: Geelong Cats, GMHBA (away), Saturday June 20 at 7:40pm

Round 4: Essendon, MCG (away), Saturday June 27 at 7:40pm

Round 5: St Kilda, MCG (home), Saturday July 4 at 1:45pm

Pros... No trips outside of Victoria in this opening patch of games, which includes two away games, meaning interstate trips shouldn’t be too frequent for the rest of the year... a trip to the Cattery is tough but the rest of these are all winnable, and a fast start is important in this shortened season.

Cons... While the Cats are going to host plenty of games in Geelong this year, the Blues are still slightly unlucky to be one of the teams selected to head down the highway... no Thursday or Friday night lights.

Three winnable games here!

Has there been any word on TV coverage? Under the circumstances I understand not getting to see the games so will have to watch them on TV. Nothing other than free to air so hoping for less fox footy and more Ch 7.

It really depends heavily on the ruck situation.
Agree....playing Melbourne with Gawn and not having Kreuzer is going to have a big effect on the game, hoping Pittonet can at least keep the new Melbourne skipper to a fair game only.
Hoping May doesnt play either, with him and Lever back their defense looks better on paper, winnable game for sure but the Gawn factor is huge.

The first 2 will be losses I reckon, we are terrible at Marvel and add to that we are back from a spell (atrocious record of late). The Handbags will smash us at KP, 10 goals min. Ess and StK at the G will be 50-50.

The mental side of things will play a big part in these early games.
This will be a preparation unlike any other
How has the isolation and somewhat limited monitoring of training affected players?
Every individual will have coped with this differently.
The teams that can re-gel quickest will have an advantage and game results may be a little wonky for a couple of weeks.

Couldn’t ask for a much more favourable draw for next 4 rounds.

Melb Essendon and st kilda are all teams we should and must beat if we are going to get off the bottom four.

Simply as that.

This joke of a 2020 competition is simply prep for 2021.  I will never pay respect to it, just count me out.

That opening schedule (cutely named R2) shows clearly the AFL wants to start with a bang... and we are regarded poorly in that respect - tied to the 'Go Dees' at Marvel. Rottingwood, Tiggers, Dawks, Pussycats and Adelaide show down grab prime time viewing on the first three nights. Then week 2 down to the Cattery to appease the bleaters down there and their stadium and probably seen as fodder for the Pussycats/% boost, at least it prime time but not free-to-air, BrisVegas and Weagles were seen as the main game on that Saturday night. Strange thing is that even with our poor record of late, we still draw a bigger TV audience than some of those featuring in prime time in the first week. How the mighty have fallen.

The upside is that we have a few weeks to prove our case for more and better prime time TV scheduling (which also helps those relying on free-to-air) as the schedule is being released in blocks.
Only our ruthless best, from Board to bootstudders will get us no. 17

Just start winning and keep winning Baggers. Pretty simple! Ahem! 😎
Reality always wins in the end.

Yes, perhaps it seems entertainment and revenue take priority over the sport.

It is a sport isn't it?

I feel it's lost it's way, I suspect someone like McGuire or Gloch would answer that question very differently to someone who actually loves the sport.

Now, it's about theatrics, glitz and glamour, the sporting aspect is barely included in the considerations. The tell is in when they start playing laugh tracks over the spectacle!
