If we are to make finals, we have to games like this and because of that I reckon we'll actually play Murphy.
If Murph plays it can't be a hammy surely. He was however reaching for his hammy you could see it clear as day and he couldn't chase. I reckon we can beat North without him anyway.
it's his glute.... (though i think there are 4 of them?)
Sorry Thry but Yarran has influenced way more games than Kreuzer from where I sit. Problem with Kreuzer is the things he is good at doing aren't the things we need him to do like great ruckwork, overhead marking etc. He's great (for a big man) when the ball hits the deck but that's not what we need him for. The amount of times we'v kicked the ball long to him on the wing this year and he's failed to even get his hands to the ball is extremely concerning. This is the type of stuff we need him to be good at.
I agree with Gibbs he too has failed to take a game by the scruff of the neck (though we've seen it a few times this year briefly).
I'm with you Carrots. Special K has been a non event this year. Done nothing more than an average AFL ruckman.
If he's carrying an injury well fair enough but for a 25 yo #1 draft pick he is falling a long way short of the mark.
At least when Yarran turns up everyone knows it.... (not that its a competition between the two of them).
Yarran hasn't gone backwards, he's just adapting to MM. He's going ok IMO, he had some mongrel in him against the saints which I love, no issues with him...
Eddie had a broken jaw not long ago so will take a bit to come back from, confidence wise.
Jeffy is going along fine, he's been smashed from pillar to post and still fronts up time and time again.
Silly topic really, surely we have more than that to discuss....
i must disagree. how is a player judged if not on output?
CARLTON skipper Marc Murphy remains in doubt for the Blues' crucial clash with North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium on Friday night but Mitch Robinson is set to return.
Robinson (arm) completed a full training session at Visy Park on Thursday morning but Murphy trained away from the main group.
Blues coach Mick Malthouse said he was hopeful Murphy would be passed fit to play despite suffering a twinge in his hamstring in the win over St Kilda last week.
Malthouse said the final decision on Murphy's fitness would be made on game day.
Mitchell Starc’s hot and cold performance last week has cost him his position in the Australian team for the second Test. Burly Queensland quick Ryan Harris will come into the XI in Starc’s place while Usman Khawaja has been called in to replace Ed Cowan in the Australian top order.
Cowan had to go after two terrible shots in the first Test. Starc a bit unlucky.
Would have played Bird ahead of Harris on this strip.
I think there is a bigger plan and picture here for Yarran and MM is putting it in place. Maybe he is perceived to be going backwards but I see it as he is learning a few lessons to continue going forward and reach his full potential. They are hard and necessary lessons. He'll be a better AFL footballer for this year under MM IMHO and will learn a lot more under his tuition.
Pratty I've got this sinking feeling that MM will trade him. Would be a huge black mark against Mick's name if this happens from where I sit.
Swap for Daisy?
Yarran should be more of an untouchable than Gibbs imo.
i'd love to run into the Yazz one day and get his thoughts on MM and CFC circa 2013.....
Gee he played well last weekend and his intent at VFL level before that was great also. Looking quicker, fitter and stronger which is greta. He'll be better with another full preseason IMO. Happy he is staying after showing improvement. He's a different footballer to the first part of the year and probably to be expected. The way he played last weekend and particularly in tandem with Henderson he might just be vital.
It looks like he's a lot fitter now than at the start of the season.
Not surprising given his ordeals....
Good luck to you Sam. He looks a likely type - keen to get involved and doesn't take any crape.....
I remember a doco on TV a year or two ago about 3-4 young footballers and their lives. CY was one of them and he showed the guts and will to be eventually drafted into the AFL. All others fell by the wayside.
That showed me that he has got inner strength and yes EB1, maybe a mentor such as Mickey O would be a good idea for him to help him reach inside to that inner reserve?
i thought one Edward Betts was a mentor?
Maybe Chris needs to become a Dad ala Eddie, Carrots and Jeff G.?
wtf? our best players gone awol and we're a game outside the 8. wow. disaster. what would you rather, a CJ brownlow and the club finished last? ffs, what a joke of a thread.
So you reckon all our #1 and other top draft picks are playing close to their potential do you Tex?
My mum always said "don't say anything if you haven't anything nice (also useful) to say".
Kreuzer encapsulates the problems with the Blues' highly prized first-round selections. Yes, he has had injury issues, but he has 99 games under his belt and I can count on one hand the times when the football world has sat up and gone, ''wow, what about that''.
Mick better not read this thread after he categorically stated that Gibbs and Kreuzer are untouchable. Looks like flyboy77 is getting a list together for the "Super trade" thread.
Maybe it just raises their 'price' in the market place.
Gibbs is worth a lot imo - maybe a change of scene will help start a fire in his belly.....
For example - would you trade Gibbs (and a low draft pick) for Darling and Shuey (or Schofield/Brown), for example?
