Title: Rd 7: In game thread: Carlton vs Collingwood
Post by: crashlander on May 05, 2016, 08:59:43 pm
Just getting things ready for Saturday. I seem to remember when Saturday Afternoon Football was 'normal'. I wonder when it became the exception, rather than the rule?
Well, we do deserve to give it to the Meat Pies: we haven't saluted against them for far too long. About time we got out of that habit and started getting back into good habits: winning! :)

Enjoy!

Some very good work seemingly undone in the latter part of the 1st. Should be further in front. C'est la vie.

Too many missed shots from gettable shots. Gibbs winning the ball but kicking it straight to a Collingwood jumper far too often..

That'd be right, this bloke killed a family of black cats, seriously.

Surprised he didn't snap for goal.

Maybe the instruction is always top of the square?.

I know I'm wearing my blue glasses but how many times Is there a rushed kick out of a pack into our f50 and every time it goes straight to the opposition.

Noticed this for years. Seem to get very very few goals from being in the right spot at the right time.

Is it just unlucky or positioning. I dunno

Doc Larkins stuffed up - not a shoulder, it's an elbow. Maybe the medial ligament.

Listening on 3AW, the level of ineptitude seems to be spread equally between both teams.

I think he's been pretty good. But dropping that mark really hurt. Had them on toast.

Geez I forgot the game was on and tuned in just before halftime - we are up nearly two goals!

You wouldn't know it from the comments here tho  :-\ is there anything positive to say!? I mean we are two goals up, there must be!

Still room for improvement but we look a lot better today than the last two weeks. If we can just tighten up on their small forwards we could walk away with 3 in a row.
How is Walker Casboult's kicking mentor though? Ok Cas has iced 2 today (and is marking it like he owns it) but geez walker's kicking has been ordinary.
Interesting to look at the half time stats and see we're dominating the contested possessions but far behind in the uncontested. So we're good at winning it, but we can't use it all that well. Also surprised that we're up in the hit outs, didn't think Kreuzer was going that well.

Agree. His disposal is rushed at times, but I'd have another 2 of him in a heart beat.

Im really wrapped with the effort.
Wasnt expecting much at all this year and seeing what the pies did to ess on Anzac day.... I was expecting the worst.
But every week we're pressuring really well.
Big hurdle for us is our polish. Clearly the worst aspect of our game.
Falling asleep for little passages has killed us too with pies getting easy multiple goals after a tonne of effort from our boys.

Well done to half time and lets keep it up.

A good half by The Blues, keep it rolling and we'll win.
We need more from Wright, Lamb, Armfield and Walker, the rest of them are going OK.
Kreuzer having a big game, Jamison looks gone, not a shadow of the player he was.
Three out of six to Fasolo, Armfield for him maybe.

We haven't kicked a ton of points but we've missed at least half a dozen set shots from within 40 metres on slight angles.
Casboult I can understand because he just can't kick, but I can't believe that the rest of them have such poor foot skills.
I think we've just forgotten what it's like to put teams away and we get stage fright.
We should still win but we've played well enough to win by 5 or 6 goals.
