Weren't we fined for playing Polson concussed just a couple of weeks back?
I think it would be a fair double standard to make excuses for say Levi or Kreuzer, as experienced senior AFL players, while hanging the newbie kid out to dry within the same time frame!
All I'm saying is that every time Dusty tried the fend off (usually directed to the throat), it didn't work - the GWS dudes were able to effect a tackle....
That said, Dusty gets given a lot of time to dispose of the ball once tackled - much more than most players imo.
If Dusty tried the throat fend off on me too many times I'd try hard to dislocate his elbow Fujitsu style, it's not too hard to do that at all!
Dusty, like other favourires eg Danger, Selwood, is given a remarkable amount of latitude.....at least the GWS lads, had worked out how to counter the Dusty fend off....take note CFC players.
Please explain?
The commentary I have heard claims Dusty wasn't fit, is that just an excuse?
I know you're not sold on Byrne but he looked a cut above to me yesterday, one particular piece of his play was right out of the top draw. Kerr doesn't have the same raw talent but I was still impressed, his second efforts and attitude look to be what are required and his skills aren't shabby. Shumaker and DeKoning the jury is out, there's no hurry in my opinion. Even though Graham is limited I'd still have him in the seniors on Sunday ahead of Polson and Pickett.
They missed DE Koning yesterday, not as a ruck, but he offers a real contest up forward as a marking target. Overhead he looks better than both McKay and Kerr, I think as a contested mark he's shows potential to be the equal of Levi at a game for game stage. But in terms of physicality De Koning is well behind the others.
We could well play De Koning in the AFL as a skinny tall running wingmen!
Agree on Kerr, his kicking was poor but he has one thing none of our young kids have and thats physical presence, he gets into the opposition, likes a push and shove and creates a bit of worry when he attacks the footy. I really want him back in the seniors working with Mckay and Charlie...thats the future and they all offer something different.
Yep, this is one of the reason I like the idea of the mature ager to show them the way, it's why I was so keen on McDonald.
Now I'm not sure who is a possible, but we need to get on with finding someone!
I'm dead set paranoid about leaving our kids go too long with poor role models leading the way!
I feel for Graham, he works hard and win heaps of the footy, but the lad cannot hit a barn from arms-length away even when he is under zero pressure!
Anyone watching the replay will need a calculator to tally the number of times our guys missed open targets at barely a legal kicking distance away, even when under no immediate physical pressure. How so many 15m passes regularly bounce in front of the target is just beyond me, even if the kicker is standing still or walking backwards we should expect and demand far more from AFL listed individuals, it is just unacceptable and has become a joke!
Are we better off with a player that gets the ball half as much but hits targets?
As an aside, another blight on our player development, the lack of players capable on both sides of their body is a joke! The stupid outside foot kicks rarely come off, they are highlight reel bullcrap that works once in a dozen attempts! How can it be that full-time trained AFL listed players cannot kick a 15m pass on their non-preferred leg?
Like that side with a few caveats. Laziest front half in history, Fisher excluded.... They just don't work hard enough. Plus, Casboult was putrid in the NBs and getting a game after that sends a bad message IMO.
Levi played like his match day instruction was don't get hurt, he may be lucky he hasn't been reported, though the incident probably wasn't his fault!
Do you know if the VFL lay reports off the video, I know they use video evidence but I'm not sure if any charges are made off video reviews?
Generally poor structures, lack of run, general disinterest from many players. Coach all you like, they can't run or tackle for the blokes out there, I've not seen a Fraser coached team look so disorganised, so I cannot blame the coach!
The usual suspects, lots of footy for players like Graham and Mullett highlighted by awful ball use and even worse decision making. Players like O'Shea on multiple occasions kicking to a static Le Bois surrounded by three Willi defenders.
Very little work ethic from Levi, that's about all I can say and I was hoping and expecting some dominance.
Plenty of work ethic from Kerr but awful disposal and decision making.
Lobbe average before being bandaged up, OK after that but little or no impact on the result.
Byrne, little of no impact.
Best players were probably not AFL listed players, not what you want to see when AFL spots are clearly up for grab, nobody looks like they want to be in our AFL side!
You don't read do you ... I DID NOT SAY THAT WITH REGARD TO THOSE PETER MAC JUMPERS !!
Our jumpers (as with the Collingwood guernsey) were understated but still receive big media coverage
Capcom, you are making cross references to arguments that don't exist.
I wrote "......like Peter Mac Cup", in reference to the Hawks jumper in Kruddler's post that you commented below! I never accused you of bagging the Peter Mac Cup jumpers, or the lack of them!
If your post is referencing something different to the Hawks charitable jumper below, then make it an explicit reference!
Did I say that? Both Carlton and Collingwood wore (wear) tributes on their jumpers and promoted the cause of the CLINIC as did the media. It's been 20 matches thus far between the two clubs. You're not to know but I've lost three family members in the last two years to cancer ... prostate, breast, and recently, brain. Think please before you press "enter". I contribute to all three causes
Lots of us have lost family to such issues.
What is the point of labelling the use of a charitable jumper for something like the Peter Mac Cup nonsense, if we chose to do so?
Or that Hawks jumper in the case above, you did label it a nonsense, didn't you?
Relative to your history and other efforts wouldn't the consistent approach be support it regardless of the look.
Isn't the look relatively trivial in the greater cause, but yet it is a strong symbol of support?
So don't bring 'the cause' into this. Focus on the product being presented.
They are intimately connected, what you or I think is irrelevant, there is a message attached to some of those jumpers.
The Dawks jumper image you made comment on is a limited use targeted charitable strip, not a valid part of an argument about general use alternative strips, it is an extremist example.
As for alternate strips, clubs submit any number of options to the AFL, only the AFL has the power to decide which are approved. Why the AFL hasn't acted on Collingwood is a very different question. Some argued Carlton should do the same, but I suppose Collingwood isn't financially underwritten by the AFL like Carlton, who would have thought some external influence might have such effects! It must be a conspiracy!
At least Carlton and Collingwood steered clear of this nonsense in the McCAllum cup
Is publicly supporting the fight against breast cancer nonsense?
What does Roughead think about supporting the fight against a cancer with a pink striped jumper?
You do know some of our most loathed one off alternative jumpers that while promoting a corporation had a charitable cause attached. The changing of the jumper typically has a requirement for charity attached before the AFL grants a permit to have the jumper changed. They would not approved the special alternatives strips without the attached charitable cause. Clubs have no choice in this, they signed the rights to logos and jumpers over the the AFL many years ago because individual clubs are just not big enough to defend the trademarks.
