Robert Heatley Stand / Re: JLT Series - 5 days away
Polson reminds me of Wright and McLean when they started off, although McLean was an elite kick before being injured!

Polson looks like he has all the brains in the world, and that will create him time and space as long as he gets more exposure and finds his role. I hope he'll be one of those players who can see the game unfolding and will be there prepared and waiting for the ball to arrive.

So they can have a personality so long as it passes what you deem to be acceptable??

Basically no room for personality.

Only if "personality" a code word for abuse?

If you become abusive, subversive or derogatory then you open yourself up to being judged because by your own actions you have already judged someone.

Some people are accustomed or accepting of abuse, possibly because it was the only form of feedback or criticism they were exposed to when growing up, so they think it's normal. It's like those friends everyone has that cannot help but shout whenever they are involved in a debate. They think raising a voice makes a point a winner!

Hmmm, it's OK but I'm not a big fan of changing the jumper.

Not because I don't like the design but because for me the traditional jumper and logo should be sacrosanct. If you get to wear it you should get to wear "it!" It's like getting your "Men in Black" suit, it should be the one and only. When you put that jumper on, you should be nervous about wearing it and living up to the reputation and expectations. You should be putting on a mindset!

Plus I want the opposition to know it, I want that navy blue to be intimidating, awe inspiring, elite. It should be like getting your Baggy Green cap.

I think the club could have done something with the shorts/socks and retained the jumper as is.

Otherwise it's a good job, a blend of old and new.

There are a few suggestions for site enhancement.
I doubt anyone would be resistant to changes that make the site more user friendly and increase traffic.
I think it's a case of Spanner finding the time to implement any such changes, so it may take a little bit of time.
If we have a consensus though(no objections or problems with an upgrade) can we say that he has the green light....at his convenience... to proceed with any adjustment that improves access to the site.

Yes it's fine, the site has to do what the site has to do! ;)

Im apart of a parenting forum which you can use with an app and its a lot easier to navigate through. The layout is user friendly I get notifications if people respond to my post or thread as in a (1) on the app similar to facebook. I don't have to constantly zoom into everything because the writing is too small or re position my page. It's just easier to use.

I see, that is fair enough as a concern.

I'm not familiar with SMF, but I know most such software generally now offers mobile device friendly themes, would that be a possible option an "M" version of the site for small screen users/

It's an interesting issue that keeps popping up, I don't know enough about this stuff to say if it possible, and even if it is it may not be easy or quick to administrate.

There is another potential issue, how big or small do the Mods want this forum to be? I suspect even at our smaller size it's a handful to Mod over the main season! A mobile theme might cause a significant growth period in the short term. I've been a little involved in Admin of CRM systems in the past, and found that a mobile theme really increases the system interaction with clients but can also cause massive problems if the people resource isn't available to allow the owner to deal with the increased traffic.

One thing the seems to be in common between our women and men is the lack of pace, it seems to be a total non-priority from our recruiting perspective.

Last night Exon and a couple of others hurt us, excluding Li it looked like nobody was capable of chasing down a ball carrier.

From the outside it looks like we have heavily prioritised inside strength and endurance over pace, it leaves us with playing lists that look imbalanced.

Weak as piss from coaches, coaches potting umpires should be suspended!

It's up to the FA to be strong, they need to be seen to discipline poor umpiring by relegation to lower leagues.

Coaches and players need to keep their mouth shut!

I enjoyed the game but it annoys me that free kicks that would be paid in the AFL are let go. Of course, it impacts on both sides but I thought there were a couple of obvious frees that, if paid, would have gone some way to evening up the scoring opportunities.

We looked great when we switched play and ran the ball, but that happened too infrequently.

One thing that concerned me was the number of kicks from the backline that went directly to the opposition.  The defenders’ first option is to roost the ball as far as possible.  A little more composure and thought and we could have kept possession and got the ball past the centre.

I should add that Mrs DJC thought that our girls were more attractive than the Lions  :)

I don't understand what is going on here, it's like they play under different rules.

Our girls went it quite hard and suffered a number of high blows for zero benefit, in the end our players became timid because the umpires were not paying frees for high contact. It was ludicrous, a lot of these infractions were right in front of umpires who failed to implement the rules. In the 3rd / 4th Qtr both the Hosking girls copped elbows to the head as they tried to tackle the ball carrier in front of an umpire, and nothing happened.

I'm also pissed off with the anti-Carlton negativity. Both teams rolled players behind the ball, yet the media is banging on about Carlton ignoring the AFL's directive for attacking play. Any moron watching the video can see 4 or 5 Lions to 2 Blues whenever we entered F50, yet apparently we are the ones stacking the backline!

So a popularity contest.

I'll trust our votes, and the coaches votes. ;)

Sort of, I thought it was a bit like Mark of the Year in that it is a vote but who chooses the three options!

Hard to imagine how Brianna hasn't been one of the voting/voted options so far, maybe you need popularity before you become an option and we don't have enough social media numbers following the club.

Where are you getting this MVP info from??

They've been announcing it after each round on the AFL website, there is a public vote from which three players get the nod. If I understand it correctly, the AFLW Gloria Jeans MVP will be selected from the weekly winners.

Rnd 1;
Molloy 53%
Brennan 25%
Frederick

Rnd 2; (Votes not finalised)
Paxman
Hooker
Kearney

http://www.carltonfc.com.au/news/2018-02-12/daveys-perfect-10

Davey got all 10 of the coaches votes this week. Takes her to 13 on the year and is sitting =1st in the comp.

She will be missed, and not replaced.

Interesting how she failed to win an MVP nomination, when I think she was clearly the comps best player right up until the moment of her injury, and the coaches seem to agree!

I think the media nominate three players each round, so they do not even have her in the top six!

Allegedly, at least what I've heard, the Doc kicking off all this debate in the media actuals gains funds from research sponsorship on female sports injuries.

But it's a known known, it's been known for decades, the unknown is the actual definitive cause and the potential cure.
