I think the euphoria of our win last week gave some people around here funny ideas. We were NEVER a chance against the Swans. We were gifted a place in the finals after a very average year. and we played an average and inexperienced team first up. Tonight was the yardstick, and we got an accurate measure of where we're at. I was hoping for another "honourable loss".
In a way, I'm glad this happened, because it gives me greater hope that the blowtorch will be applied to EVERYBODY, players and coaches, because they all stunk it up tonight. Players were crap, and so was Mick's coaching.
Don't let the junk time goals fool you. With their early injuries, Swans were never going to run out the game. They busted their balls to get a winning lead and hoped to play keepings off in the last.
All i can say that at least Brian Taylor's ugly head wasn't around. Can't stand him!!
Let alone not missing the "Wow wee" every 2 minutes or comparing every fcuk up with something that Richo would have done
And his ridiculus illustrations/comparisons. He tries to be funny, but he's just stupid. And once he says something he doesn't let it go! Gee it irks me. I cringe every time i see that Hungry Caterpillar on his upper lip.
Did someone say Big Boy McEvoy ?
Yep - BT did about 50 times in 1 game. Horrible. And in the after match wrap up, whenever Sam Lane is talking, you always see him twitchy and agitated, like he just can't wait to piss her off. Comes across as a sexist pig.
Hang on I forget something. Fox sports today and David King. "Dustin Martin" is the key to Richmond beating Carlton today. He is evasive and a quality player. an elite finisher and Carlton won't have a match for him today. he will win this game off his own boot. "Martin this and Martin that". "Martin, Martin, Martin". Don't even get me started on Cotchin. King, you got it WRONG. They lost. Martin did something but not near enough to win it today. Dermie thought we were a chance even though he thought we would lose. He said never say never. he has watched us come back. Him and Maclure were fair about their analysis. The others were all knobs. Especially Roos. He gave us no chance in each quarter. he still can't believe how we managed to win it. No anti-Blues bias at all the commentators.
How about using guys who say it as it is and being non-biased.
You know I listened to the Triple M pre show thing just before bounce down and the one person who was balanced and actually thought about the game on its merits was Jason Dunstall. I have to say it's not the first time I have noticed it from Dunstall. Don't get me wrong he's Hawks through and through but he does give a balanced opinion I think overall.
I'd have to agree, although his voice is horrible.
We're all feeling pretty pumped now, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Today's win was great, but Richmond aren't that flash. Easily the worst of the finalists IMO.
And why is Malthouse getting all the credit ? When the players show no ticker, then it's their fault - when they do show ticker, it's due to Mick ?
Thanks goodness - I can cop losing to the other finalists, because I think they actually are better than us. But I never rated the tigers, and always thought we were good enough o win.
However it pans out, I hope our boys are watching tonight's game. An object lesson in how it's done (mainly by the Dawks).
Definitely how to apply pressure and keep the pressure on for 4 quarters. You would think the Swans would have played better tonight because of the last game. Hodge being a danger guy tonight.
Agree - Swans have been (dare I say it) gallant most of the season without a number of their stars and senior players. Couldn't have done much better IMO.
