Never been a fan of Martin and it's been a long time between drinks ie his first game but he actually gave us a complete game and converted well which was a key factor in the win so credit to him.

Same !!

He has the ability but not the grey matter.

Normally does nothing for half of the match then has a blistering 6-7 minutes of complete dominance and then disappears again.

Whilst last nite was the best I've seen him play, his inconsistency & brainfarts cannot be overlooked and my preference is to see him shown the door.

By the way, Cerra was playing a blinder until he tweaked his hammy again, looks way fitter than in the past and his delivery on the left foot is first rate.

I quite liked Cottrell's game last (and again, I'm not a huge fan but he is slowly winning me over), wasn't a "highlights reel", just a lot of "meat & potatoes" stuff which I see as far more more important.

Hollands looked a tad unsure every time he had to battle with Maynard, there is a fair bit of difference in age, body-size & experience so the young chap has to just bore in harder next time.

Do you honestly believe this?

The MC deemed him worthy of getting a game, and because of a brain fade (or 2?) he will be banished from the list as a result?

TBH, if the MC are so fickle that something like that is enough to end someones career, then that is not the MC i want at our club.

I do believe it.

He would do one great thing and then two horrors.

It had nothing to do with being rusty, they were just really poor decisions.

That's how you win a game ........ tackle hard, chase hard, pressure the opposition & attack the ball-carrier.

Fogarty's tackle on Mihocek (?) was first class.

Weitering was superb all night.

There was hardly a poor player on the field tonight.

Sadly, Marchbank made some horrible errors and whilst some will say he has been out of the game for a long time, you may not have your "touch" first up but you don't lose your experience & knowledge. His papers must be stamped now !!!

I reckon Nick Daicos will wake up in the morning very sore after tonight, he got grappled & double-teamed all night and was nothing near the contributor he has been this year - good coaching & well drilled from the players.

Finally took a big scalp and with some serious venom too.

I haven't seen the game in full as I was working till 5:00pm on Saturday but did catch most of the last quarter, game was done 7 dusted by the time I tuned in.

Have to wonder if the injury to McKay will be a blessing in disguise ?? I'm not suggesting anything sinister here, just that in his absence, other players will have to step up and carry some of his workload as well. Will be interesting to see (a) if that happens & (b) who it is that does the extra lifting ??

Haven't see the game yet as I was working down in the Illawarra ...... (hello Lods).

Raydan did ring me whilst I was driving home and made a point of how 'crushing' the tackling was, he also pointed out the 'team first' mentality that was out there too.

Sounds like there is something to get really pleased about with this one, will try and watch the game over the next couple of days.

Late to the party and didn't see the game.

I was invited to a grass roots country football game. My recently deceased dad was a life member who'd filled every position from president to line marker, to water boy. He also played 400+ league games and coached juniors through to the league, winning multiple premierships.

To our surprise the club dedicated todays game to him. It will be an annual tribute match. All very moving for the family. He was such a humble man, we had no idea of the extent to which, he improved the on field performance and lives of so many people.

Arriving home to a big W v Dockers felt like a wonderful end to the weekend. The comments I've read so far are very encouraging, even heart-warming!
I can't wait to watch the replay.

Go Blues.

400 games !!

Reckon I would have enjoyed a chat over a beer or two with your Dad, the stories would be rolling out all session.

A lot of people may not be familiar with the rules that apply to Starc's catch. Whilst it is rather technical, the correct call was made even though it did crap me accordingly.

I took a catch in a match a few years ago back-pedalling to keep my eyes on the aggot, as the ball went into my hands, my momentum made me fall backwards onto my butt, I put my hands down on the ground to brace the fall, the ball still in my hand palm-down. There were calls of 'not out' from the opposition on the sidelines. The player umpire gave it out even though the rest of his team were shat off with him.

On returning to the pub after the match, I quizzed one of the guys who had just completed the umpires course and he explained why it should have been given 'not out'.

However, on the flipside, Bairstow's dismissal was completely in the rules as the umpire had not called 'over' so the game was not "dead". Besides, Carey took the ball and immediately threw it at the stumps, its not like he waited in hope for the opportunity.

The icing on the cake is that Bairstow has tried the same tactic on numerous occassions in this series already but because he is a crap throw, he has missed the stumps each time.

The Poms furore is mainly for the sole purpose of deflecting on the fact they are 2-0 down in the series because their new "Bazzball" tactics have failed dismally.

The term "whinging Pom" has risen again and for damn good reason.
