Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Post Game Analysis: AFL 2020 Rd 2: Carlton vs Melbourne
I can't see that happening, no matter how bad the season is. Even by Carlton standards, that would be a new low.

I think there's a real chance we could be 0-4 after Geelong and Essendon (no easy beats IMO), but I think we will win more in the latter stages of the season, as long as we can stay relatively injury free.

I cant see it happening either, but the conspiracy theorists have our upper echelons biding their time to get Lyon in.

Teague is no doubt under intense pressure and I have no doubt that he will be gone if we don't see some better results in what's left of this season. I sure get the feeling that he is a left over from a previous era unfortunately and not really in favour with the current regime.
If we get rid of Teague after one interrupted season, we will be forever more a non entity.
That's not how you change culture. That's going to ruin our club.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Rd 3: Pre Game Prognostications: Carlton vs Geelong in Geelong

Not sure the McKay, McGovern, Casboult thing is going to work, none of them are much use close to goal and we get cleaned up on the last line of defense over and over again. SoJ would be nice to have in the forward pocket.

I'd like to see us going back to junior footy. Have at least 2 of those guys starting in the goal square and making runs at 45 degrees and 90 degrees... Over and over again. Higher workrate, and give the midfielders a target every time the ball is coming forward. The defence either runs with us leaving the 3rd tall deep to either mark, or knock the ball down to one of the smalls or we get a mark on the lead.
I still dont think our forwards work hard enough inside 50.

You can have all the plans in the world, but you can't execute the plan on the players' behalf. You can be quite certain the coaching group understood the ruck disparity and understood what Gawn can do, and I have no doubt that they planned for a few things, including rucking to his tap outs. But if the players don't get it, refuse to do it, or simply can't do it, there's little a coach can do IMO.
Gawn was no longer on top after the first quarter. Whatever was whispered in Pittonet's ear at quarter time worked and they were even at worst, and Pittonet on top for the rest of the match. The coaching wasnt the issue last night, not the game day coaching at least.

We kicked 8 from free kicks, is that umps reaming them?

There was at least 2 times we should have had 50m penalties (based on the first of the game for them) and werent. Both of which would have put our guys in very kickable positions. There was at least 2-3 other frees not paid in front of goal.  I dont think they were reamed. They got the rub in front of goals plenty of times.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Who are the most improved this season? Rate your preferences 1,2 and 3
1. Jack- now integral to our team
2. Equal- Levi and Gibbons
Levi has had some huge games. Not to disparage him too much but just to justify why I dont have him at one is he also had a couple of real shockers too. But overall it was great to see him do a Lazarus (or should we be calling it a Jonesy?)
Gibbons was a major find for us. Came from nowhere for a spot on the list and proved himself every bit a first 22 player.

That one he, or you for that matter, won't forget for a long time.

Oh for sure.
Never thought I'd be in such as position.
The club deserves kudos for giving a bunch of kids (and their dads/mums) a great game day experience.
It may have cemented his loyalties too. He has been running around the house ever since commentating himself as all of the Carlton boys. We had to go down the park this morning for a kick around. We alternated between Cripps, Levi and "big H"
