Hated Fraser pre-mid-80s and then loved him for his humanitarian efforts after that.  RIP.

Just seen him described as the Darth Vader of my youth, and the Obi Wan of my middle age.

Good riddance, arrogant prick. Nothing he did afterwards could make up for what he did to democracy in this country.

Two big Australian (probably the biggest) political figures go pretty close to each other. Reminds me of when the partner in a marriage dies. Perhaps not.

RIP.

I didn't have much time for him as a politician but he did have a social conscience and was the last of the liberal Liberal PMs.

His work since losing to Hawke has been pretty good.

One of my mates has worked for him since he was PM and he reckons he was a great bloke.

It really is the end of an era with Gough and Malcolm both passing away within a few months of each other.

RIP Mr Fraser.

Agree - thankfully did a "Wittgenstein" and saw the error of his earlier ways.

Performed one of the great mongrel acts in Aussie political history... ably enabled by a supreme turd - Kerr. Over the remainder of his life turned it around 180. Transcended politics and became a great statesman and humanitarian... held Howard and other 'far right' clowns to account along the way as well.

His strong and credible voice for decency will be missed.
