Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Rd 6 2023 Post Game Prognostications Carlton vs St Kilda
I reckon the hype generated in the first half of last season is catching up to us. To me it looks like the is no intensity or urgency as the players have been told by people patting them on the back that they will make the finals. While we lost a few close games in the second half of last season since the bye round last year we appear to just going through the motions. As I said before the Richmond game if we are still relying on players such as Ed Curnow we are in trouble. When I look at our list containing cloggers like Boyd, Fogarty, S.Durdin etc who couldn’t get a game at their original clubs but we think are going to make a difference when they play for us I think all of us are caught up in the hype. Our list isn’t deep enough yet to challenge consistently with injuries.
Sick of playing blokes like O’Brien who have no heart or fierce competitiveness to attack the ball. If a few of our guys are having a bad day they put up the white flag with no desire to fight on crack in or even do the one percenters that might make it hard for the opposition.
We are playing with no heart

Don't know if I should mention this as my source has been notoriously over reactionary but 10 weeks was what he'd heard.
Wouldn't normally say anything but he did make the call on the broken hand onfMonday. Hoping he's wrong again  :-\

Re: Hewitt
Don’t know how broken it is as he was at Children’s hospital doing the PR thing about Good Friday game shaking hands and giving out paraphernalia etc with no strapping on either hand

Panic?

You must have watched a different game!

We should have killed the ball that Lynch marked but, until then, we had control of the game.  Similarly, Motlop’s handball was the right choice in most circumstances but not this time … but how many games has he played?

One minute to go
in clear possession with a mark
 in front
Lost
Maybe not panic……but

Hardwick can be bit of a knob when it comes to the media, crapping on about the irrelevance of the MCG surface because Ed Sheeran was such a great concert!🙄
If Lynch or Martin do their knees in the first 5 mins he’ll be bitching louder than anybody else.
Everything he says to the media is a smokescreen.

Don’t know if we have an improved team from last year or not, two kids and Ed Curnow in the side for the first game tells me not. Love Ed but if we are still giving him a game at this stage of his career we aren’t as deep as we think we are. Same with the kids, one maybe but two? If they were top two in the draft I could see it but they just aren’t physically strong enough yet to play big matches.
Hope I’m wrong

Technically i'm 14 as well but have no real memory of football in 1962 at 5yo so didn't count it. My mother got me supporting the Blues in 1964, before the old man could get in and make me a Swans supporter....lol.

My first game was Carlton v Melbourne in 1964. 3rd last, us, v the Premiers, Melbourne. We led most of the day but got run over by 2 goals.
I remember 1964 as being our worst ever to that stage as we finished 10th
hard to believe as we are happy to finish 9th this year 🙄🤔
Upheaval at board level in came Harris and Barassi and the rest is history kicking off a golden era!

There’s a huge difference when you measure our success over the last 35 years and the 35 years before that.

I’ve been lucky enough to witness the Mighty Blues in 14 grand finals for 8 cups 🙂
Same for me 14 GFs for 8 flags although 1962 GF bit of a blur remember the controversial prelim more 😀👍
My old man had the golden run died aged 78 but had 19 GFs for 11 flags!
Be nice to catch him 🙏
No wonder we expect results from “ the team that never lets you down”🤔
