Maybe Binns comes in for Fantasia and starts as the sub.....Carroll into the 22? Or maybe Cincotta in for Fantasia and starts as the sub....in case we need some more in the backline.

Horror game but given our injuries and with such a depleted team not unexpected. The Cats had AFL premiership players in the team along with plenty who have played a few senior games and it went to script. Mirkov and Okeefe didnt do a lot and most of what Dom Akui did resulted in turnovers and there wasnt much to enthuse about...Maher battled on, Wilson started well but I thought our two best players were McMahon and Nelson. Id be persisting with the ex Pie McMahon down back, he has some ability all be it he can look laconic but his skills are good.
We need to keep a close eye on Myers. I'd run Cottrell on him and make him accountable. Maybe put Acres on Cameron and make Cameron gut run up and down all day.
No Saad is going to make it difficult with Stengle too, maybe Boyd gets the job although I'd like Boyd for Myers. Where ever you look they have dangerous forwards , a couple that go under the radar are Close and Henry.
We did OK with Weitering missing at the start of the season.
As good as Hawkins is, he does rely on players up the ground and, if we can get on top, he can be starved of opportunities.
Cameron is a different kettle of fish with his ability to win the ball and create opportunities up the ground. While it's not an ideal match up, Young is probably best able to go with him. Alternatively, Kemp runs with Cameron when he plays up the ground and Weitering or Young pick him up inside 50.
Vossy seems very confident that both Williams and Weitering will play.
Agree...think the only way to negate the Cats forwards is not to let the ball get down there end too often, its a very talented forward line with good variety and no obvious matchup for Cameron imho. Young on Hawkins would worry me more than Kemp on Cameron.....this is a game where McGovern providing that second man up or having the ability to run with Cameron will be missed....never thought I would say we would miss McGovern but its credit too him he has become a key cog in how our defense works.
I probably want to see a bit more of TDK forward before I'm sold on him as a forward and how many times it works and we win games. I like it as an option though that the coach can go to depending on the opposition and state of the game to stretch other teams and get an edge .
When we play 2 rucks, Pitto needs to spend most of his time on the ball (especially early in the game) to allow TDK to provide relief when the opposition ruckman tires (especially late in games), which allows for Pitto to be subbed out if there are no injuries.
This means that one of the 3 tall forwards needs to consistently present on the wing (or in the midfield) to provide marking power; create space in the front half; and to run forward without being closely marked. They all have sufficient mobility to perform this role.
Full agree...the two specialist rucks playing works best with Pitto doing the grunt work early especially vs the opposition meathead type rucks like Briggs and then when they tire TDK can jump all over them later in the game. Harry and Charlie often appear on the wings or even half back to take a mark and drag their opponent up the ground which then leaves the other one alone with his opponent and our two dont lose too many of those contests if we can get the ball down to them quickly.
Was a Dandenong support even though I lived in the Northern Suburbs near the Preston ground. They were the good old days, VFL on a Saturday and the VFA on Sundays.
Yep, great old days tuned to Channel 10, just remember Port Melbourne winning everything and the late Fred Cook kicking bags of goals. Was a great era for Full forwards who regularly kicked 100 plus goals....
Calista got a fair bit of the ball but he and Miller were thumped in the ruck by O'Keeffe and Mirkov even if our midfielders couldn't capitalise. But, a good ruckman needs to do more than just win the hitouts and our two need to improve their marking, linking up, positioning and being a presence around the ground. Flockhart looked to have done his knee but came back on and picked up where he left off. Miller did a good job of the key forward second ruck role.
I wonder if Lemmey is playing back while Sam Durdin is out (suspended?) or if it's the direction his career is now headed. If he can play CHF with the same energy and application that he's showing at CHB, he could be a genuine key forward option. Perhaps he's just one of the many key forwards who play better footy in defence.
We didn't have that many AFL listed players out there, but I think that Moir showed the most potential. He works hard off the ball he will be rewarded for that.
Id persist with Lemmey at CHB in the VFL.....and Id be looking to give Moir a senior game or two sooner than later as the sub initially. Lemmeys blonde mate down back in Lewis also played an ok game and looks a solid player. Not sure Id be keeping Mirkov or OKeefe.....

Left footer from memory who kicked torps and along with his little leftie mate Pat Flaherty made my life as a Preston supporter miserable as a kid...
I think TDK benefited from Taylor not playing for GWS and affecting how they setup down back.....so I would want to see more evidence than just one game that he is a reliable forward option or just a one hit wonder every now and then.
Lemmey looks a better player down back and maybe a chance to make a Key defender, won the ball well and used it ok for a big fella although his opponent from the WAFL who has a famous VFA name in Jimmy Miller had a decent game too. The other player who looks a class above most is Moir, dont reckon he will ever play too many four quarter games but everything he does is classy even when he tackles(laid a great one in the last quarter) and he knows where the goals are and plays with a bit of maturity. Binns can hit a target and runs hard, but lacks a bit of physicality when tackling and also can hang back a bit when he needs to be attacking the ball. Cincotta was ok without being great and both Okeefe and Mirkov lowered their colours to the Port ruckman(Flockhart?) who was impressive. Xavier Maher was BOG but for me remains a good VFL player only....
Dunno that the whole side was bad in the first half, yes many were bad but they were admirably led by Charlie who had a mare in the first half. Worst half of footy I have seen from him in a long while. Again from my vantage point, the opposition moved it far too easily from the one end of the ground to the other. I commented to my mate and Junior G2C at half time that we haven't been hard to play against this year. We completely reversed that in the second half and we were the ruthless and bold Carlton from last year.
I like GWS, they are a good side and despite Toby having brain fades at time, I'd have him in my side every day of the week and twice on Sundays. BUT their Beveridge clone coach is an utter flog who also has a head you want to punch. He seriously needs some lessons in humility and how to speak respectfully to the media (ie the public). Watch his presser and his carry on over the Greene Boyd incident and tell me if he doesn't make your blood boil.
Yep, it was a real sour grapes presser, GWS have some skillful players but several soft ones who don't like it hard and are way overrated ie Whitfield, Coniglio, Kelly etc and Himmelberg enjoys taking big marks over little players but is pathetic against anyone his own size and without Taylor in the team got exposed as the fraud he is imo. Toby is a top player but can't help himself and turns into a undisciplined sook as does Hogan when things don't go their way...
