All our injured players are talls....I understand about questions about depth but having five talls out will hurt any club...its like North being without Goldstein and Waite and their back ups.
We have some youngsters like Jaksch coming through and should be given a run if Jack Silvagni shines today he should also be given a run.
Charlie Curnow Glandular Fever Indefinite Harry McKay Back 5 weeks Levi Casboult Knee 6-8 weeks Matthew Kreuzer Knee 2-4 weeks Andrew Phillips Hamstring 2 weeks
We should have played Wood instead of Gorringe, Wood at least has some body strength and mongrel and would have made it more uncomfortable for Goldstein. Everitt was bad but Jones was equally so if not worse, he never looked like being in position to make a contest when the ball came in long and was continually second, third or fourth in line. On current form Walker is a shadow of the player he was and unless he can turn it around in the next month will go the way of Jamison, it's sad to see in both cases. We have our problems generally but our front half is our Achilles heel and until we fix it we can expect more results like last night.
Some patience McKay is back in training in three weeks and when the time Cas is due back McKay should have a game or two under his belt in VFL which means potentially having Cas and McKay in the forward line by round 15
I will take it is a reality check if we had all our players available and on 7 days break like North. Until then a loss against an undefeated team is ok.
Goldstein gave his mids first use of the ball net 35 times in the game... this is domination.
DVR, Graham, Jaksch, Boekhorst, Wood need to shine,
1AW in trainwreck mode needs to be dropped White - good warrior but rested and gave little Lamb - worst game of the year looked tired though - won't drop Rowe - worst game of the year - won't drop
1AW and White should be dropped though to find form in VFL.
There is no way C.Curnow will be back within two months let alone two weeks. I'm not sure of the current thinking but years ago it was thought the worse thing a GF sufferer can do is over-exert themselves during recuperation. It can set them up for years of relapses. Gentle exercise used to be the call, long walks, gentle bike rides, aqua-aerobics, etc., etc..
Gorringe will have his work cut out in his first game. In fact, the entire team will have a huge challenge to be competitive.
It's interesting that Wood is an emergency. Does that mean he's been upgraded in place of Charlie Curnow?
McKay was placed on LTI when he was first injured. Curnow is at the club on light duties but not sure when he will be fit again. Could be two weeks could be two months no one knows but is improving.
Very much maligned. If you're not top 10 player at the club you will be dropped - just ridiculous.
has had three below average years.. all the others have been extremely good. Do we forget the games where he defeated Goddard, Goodes etc when playing in the backline as 23 year old?
He was riddled with injury and form in 2012 + 2013 then played the whole of 2014 in the middle and was a star (best and fairest) 2015 was injury hit but this year so far he is in career best form as you would expect someone in their peak and will continue for another three years.
Don't think this team can afford too many injuries and not liking what I hear from Gorringe. Agree with laj Rowe has to ruck and bring in Jaksch to play forward & Weitering if fit to play in the backline. Rowie will need to play all game in the ruck against Goldstein and will get 100 hit outs. Just need to keep doing what we are doing not doubting Boltons talents one iota and pull a rabbit out of the hat
