VFL Bye - sort of ...

This week the 2nds don't have a VFL game, but there is a game scheduled against some up-and-comers.
Apparently, all the recruiters will be there.

We lost the exhibition game today, 79 to 85.
No Carlton listed players played.
Charlie McKay did. Dane Whitnall played as well, and was not unimpressive. he is apparently stick thin, but has the family football brain. Not much information available at the moment.

Dane Whitnall is stick thin....?
Have we done a DNA check?
This is now the longest premiership drought in the history of the Carlton Football Club - more evidence of climate change?

Needs more time with his dad at KFC.

I think at one stage Lance might have had timeshares at a fleet of takeaways!

Anyway as I get older I appreciate the battle he faced, so I'm staying out of it (KFC and the debate!)

Some people are just built thicker.

I said before in another topic I'm 178cm, and weigh roughly 100kg.

Recently the lowest I've been with strict dieting and exercise 3 times a week was about 92kg after almost 2 years before covid struck.

I haven't been skinny since I was 18, and at 95 kg I could still do a 16.6 km "fun run" in under an hour and a half.  Not blistering times but for a heavy set guy I go ok.  I only wear size 34-36 pants and large or xl t shirts so its not like I'm the size of a house.

Yep, I always have to watch my diet and it can be really tedious at times.

I used to work in a fast food restaurant.

I only ever saw 2 AFL players in there (both Carlton i might add).

1. Chris Yarran. He came in early, bought himself a coffee and some raisen bread. I had a chat. He was in the area for a footy clinic for the kids. A healthy option.
2. Lance Whitnall. He came in, sat by himself and demolished a large meal with all the trimmings. He just lived (kinda) nearby, and seemed completely normal.

Lance has nobody to blame but himself.

Never understood why the reserves have a bye when the seniors are playing. Would have been nice to get another game into marchbank , get another game into Mirkov and let others keep pushing for selection especially if they had been dropped the week before or been medical sub etc. That many teams in this ridiculous league surely they can make it an even number!

My dimensions are in the same ballpark Thry 🙂

My Dad had the nickname “Tubby” when he played cricket for Carlton (never cracked it for a game in the firsts) but he was very fit and his shape/weight was down to muscle rather than fat.

It was interesting to see Lance present a guernsey recently; he is looking pretty fit for a bloke his age with a tendency to stack on the kgs.
