Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Post Game Pandemonium!: AFL 2020 Rd 14: Carlton vs Collingwood
Once again we got to 9 (10?) points up but just couldn't get THAT goal.
Instead, it was a series of fumbles, poor decisions, and loose checking which finally got Coll'wood the goal which put a spring in their step and the rest was miserably predictable.

Had everything to play for today so I'll never understand the mentality or psychology of this bunch.

Teague gets a 2 out of 10 today.

The only positive is that we're a game closer to seeing a few players give it away ... I hope.

Training wheels Teauge was absolutely outcoached today.  That is an embarassment as well to be outcoached by Buckley who is mediocre at best.  What does the club expect?  Waste pics 3 (Dow), 6 (Seton), 10 (Obrien) 10 (Harry?) thanks to SOS and that seals the deal IMO.  Bloody disgraceful, given the pain we as supporters have had to bear for this supposed 'rebuilt' like GWS. ???  This club tells lies.

The good:
Cottrell's first game, deserves to play next week, his turn of speed will be something special.
TDK. His 2nd qtr against NN was something for us all to get excited about.
Zachery's return. Should be a small forward for a while, quick reflexes, opportunistic goals and good defensive pressure.
Kennedy. Especially his first half. Imposed himself and took strong grabs. Coming along nicely.
Setters coming along nicely.
Walsh. Has shaken off the 2nd year blues very nicely.
Willo. Still a little fumbly, perhaps lacking a little confidence but improving slowly but surely.

The bad:
Again with the 4-7 goal turnaround, FFS. This time it was 30 pts. Sheesh, opposition sides will be scheduling their 4-7 goal run-on against us. I was deeply concerned when I saw the human Valium, Barker, talking with the mids at half time. And we started the 3rd without the intensity and tackling desperation of the first half... and this let the Weagles have a sniff.
Losing Martin.

So so:
Still not sold on Newnes.
Sammo gets dragged deep into defence and then he's rooted. Further up the ground... dangerous.
Murphy. Gets plenty and gave his all today but his occasional short steps and inability to really hurt opponents with his possessions is now an issue. Surely must retire and not get a contract renewal.
Crippa - take a deep breath and delegate, share the load. Oh, and let's take our time when shooting for goal and that missed mark... gulp, we looked a little nervous and didn't attack the aggott to ensure we marked it.

The bad:
You will seldom hear anything about umpires from me but who the fck is umpire 22? Appalling.
I repeat... the 4-7 goal run-ons. FFS

Ps When we learn to sustain our best, our tenacity re tackling, we will beat anyone, anywhere.

The human vallium, Barker...great call.  This guy is one of the cornerstones of our 'losing culture'  and must go at the end of the year.

Agree.  SPS also can be very lackadaisical with his disposal resulting in often damaging turnovers at critical times. In defensive situations we just can't afford these. I noticed 2 or 3 today.
SPS is one of our biggest drafting mistakes of this so-called 'rebuild'.  A number 6 pick, has no leg speed, totally Jibbs and hates contested situations and rollicks around like a millionaire trying to bite of unneccesary kicks.  If we can get anything for this squib he should be traded at the end of the year.

Looks injured, not moving that freely and felt for the ball when he had a chance to mark it which is unlike him to lack intensity. His confidence is down, all the tagging and crap he has copped is taking its toll. Yeo is a tough opponent but he just looks off and I'd be tempted to rest him.

He is 'banged up' physically and mentally from copping all the losses that we have endured over the past 5 years.  I think he actually may have 'jibbed it' today in the 3rd quarter when we could have gone 27 points up had he taken a mark in front of goal.  If he didn't jib it, and I honestly hope he didn't, his legs couldn't get there.  Either way it was an incident that made me vomit.

Plowman should be dropped for agreeing with that umpire. We had two up the other end where they picked the ball up and tried to fend off.

What Plowman did today typifies our culture.    Weak, Submissive.   While I compliment him for his game today btw, the team continues to show why it cannot ever become anything of substance in it's current form.  To hear Teauges presser today was to think if you hadn't seen the game, that we'd won.  He spoke of 'growth' etc.  Sounds like a Boltonism.   The truth is , yet again, and it doesn't matter WHO we play btw... because we do it again MOST sides, we go to pieces when the pressure comes and we don't know how to win.  Not enough blokes either want to, or have the capabilities to die for it.  The coach has no idea how to stop a run of goals, and this is reasonable given he is ANOTHER first year coach.  I am mentally torn apart by what this club does to it's supporters year after year and soon enough will be enough.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Post Game Party!: AFL 2020 Rd 3: Carlton vs Geelong
Loved the work off Pitto. Great to have a ruckman who palms it off.
Wrapped to win.  Reality is though, we had quite a few players down and we were a bit 'lucky'.   Lucky, because they were only able to make 57 interchanges to our 87 due to their two injured mids/fwds who took little part in the game.   Obviously we came to play and they didn't early, which means we 'deserved' to win, but I'm not getting to carried away.  The stats tell a different story.  We had 8 players under 10 possessions and that will not get it done on a constant basis.   While I'm happy and of course wrapped to take 4 points from them, I hope it doesn't paper over the cracks.   We still need to get alot better, but hopefully some belief will grow from this and lead to more achievements in the future.  Up the navies!

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Rd 3: Pre Game Prognostications: Carlton vs Geelong in Geelong
If we can channel some of the 2nd half stuff into the 1st half, we are a chance. Their rucks are not a patch on Gawn. However, our midfield really needs to be working for 4 quarters.
To be honest, I can't see us doing it, but we are not without a chance. But we have to squash their ball winners. We don't do that enough.
Can i please have some of what you are smoking?

Hard At times? I am dead set over it. I changed channels in the 1st in disgust when they kicked their 5th (11 I50s to nil). I just cant watch it anymore, sorry but I just cant. I feel for people who coughed up their hard earned to support them and get that crap in return. Call me a sook, fairweather supporter whatever, they wont get a cent out of me ever again. Nothing changes, same rubbish week in week out sprinkled with the odd win every now and then against the bottom sides. If I hear one more person mention our supposed top end talent I will spew up. We have Cripps, Weitering and maybe Doc if he can stay injury free. The rest are just very average footballers with no intensity, poor skills and turn up and perform occasionally to justify collecting a pay cheque. Five farken years we have been waiting for green shoots, young players, blah blah farken blah. As ol mate Dane Swan said, the world has changed forever in the wake of Covid19, there is a constant though, the CFC and their pathetic rinse repeat efforts.

The club is a disaster.  I have copped so much on here for about 7 years about how negative i am etc.  Truth is, we are, have been, and will always be a rabble until we get rid of the board.  The board appoints the CEO, and sets the culture.  Our culture is one of 'losing' and 'all in boys club'.  I mean, John Barker, what the hell is he still there for.  Joke

Two points only to make.  (1) - Marc Murphy, '0' tackles in 2 games (3 hours) of football this year.  What an inspirational leader.  (2) Teague.  Honestly, why can't we spend money on a proper coach who can adequately 'prepare' the players to start from the first quarter.  Here we go again.  Big spoon chance in an asterix season.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Rd 1 2020: Post Game Post Mortum: Carlton vs. Richmond
Our outside ball distributors - Setterfield,  Dow,  Fisher and Newman stunk.   To the point where I'd be happy if none played seniors again, ever.    Dow is clueless,  zero awareness, real worry that bloke.   These blokes can't get it,  can't use it and apply F all pressure on the other mob when they have  it.  Murphy did better,  he at least got the pill,  but his use stank.   Curnow tried but his use was awful.    So many ineffective players, can't carry so many passengers.

Big loss was Kreuzer,  if it's a foot that might be the end unfortunately.  Levi very serviceable,  at least gives us a presence around the ground.   Before getting injured Kreuzer looked cooked.

Plowman was hopelessly out pointed,  but at least we have Willo as cover.   I don't see how we're going to fix that midfield though,   it is so far off AFL standard it's embarrassing.  Time to give some of the supposedly talented kids a rocket.

Good post.  Agree with all your comments here.  Especially with regard to the 'poor use' our mids give us.   Kernow and Murphy basically need to be replaced in the midfield with 2 excellent ball users.  E.g Coniglio etc.  If we can't get a player the ilk of that, then we need to try something different to get some class in there...e.g maybe play dok there, or obrien etc.  At least they kick well.    Nunes was poor with his feet.  Will not survive doing that with only 11 possesions.  Dow is awful. Worst number 3 draft pick i've seen.  For that pick alone, I totally understand why SOS is no longer at the club.  Throw in Setterfield, lazy cunningham, lazy mcgovern, plowman (yes Plowman, the one that small forwards always take apart but they keep playing him) and a few others and it is no wonder we were blown away by 40 at half time.  I was thrilled with Martin (real class), crippa and seton played well, although i'd like his 19 touches to be 24.  Frustrated because we have some good players now, unfortunately the spuds need to go so we are not let down by them.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Carlton vs Brisbane Practice Match

I've been a bit worried about Kreuzer for a couple years now.

TBH, he simply isn't good enough. Injuries have ruined him.
His best is still quite good, but he is never allowed to perform at his best.

In an ideal world, TDK would replace him by seasons end.

Kreuzer, Murphy and Gibbs were all very ordinary number 1 draft picks.  It could be argued we butchered them all.  Are they crap footballers?  No they are not, but where do they really rank in terms of their real position in the draft from where they should have been taken?  I'd say, Murphy- pick 12-15,  Gibbs, pick 8-14, Kreuzer, Pick 15-20.  None are worthy of number 1.
