Robert Heatley Stand / Re: 2018 Rd 7: Pre Game Paranoia: Carlton vs Adelaide
If Kreuzer is ready to go, I'd play them both with Phillips taking the centre bounce and Kreuzer as a midfielder and the pair sharing around the ground duties.

That's probably what would happen if the world was fair because Phillips has done everything asked of him.

But ruckman generally float forward these days and right now we've got too many talls already. I didn't notice Phillips able to get into the forwardline much on the weekend and that was without Krooz.

Agree...Pickett was handy vs Werribee but didnt do enough....Smedts I guess was the travelling emergency, his form before that was ok but not outstanding...I think Palmer has a bit more class
and would have suited us vs Richmond...also would have played White...

Pickett, Smedts and my whipping boy Boekhorst  has a look of unreliability I dont like....Graham looks a more reliable player which makes me nervous...

I reckon you'll see a lot more rotations of fringe and newbies for the rest of the year.

i think they'll use the rest of the season to test the list fringe players and, lets face it, we have quite a few still.

I'd have moire faith in Toby Greene maintaining his influence away from the surroundings of the magnificent GWS list than Joshua Kelly.

Greene is a more of a physical player, and it's clear he has that bit of bastard about him!

I think if Toby Greene learns to sacrifice, he can be as influential as Sam Mitchell, all be it in a different role.

Green would probably play a fair bit of midfield for us.

If Toby Green wanted to come to PP, I'd be wrapped. Might be a smart @rse (which can be educated out of him) but he's one helluva player.

Absolutely.

The guy is getting some criticism after almost winning the last two games single handedly.

Christ, the fact he was in so much play so late in the game tells you he's a guy who wants the ball when it's close. And I got the feeling late in our game we had a few that were a little bit reluctant to take responsibility.

Ladies Lounge / Re: AFLW List Changes
The AFLW trade period wrapped up last week and clubs have now made their initial cuts to the playing list for 2018.

Carlton have traded out Bella Ayre and Nat Exon to Brisbane in return for Tayla Harris. Exon and Ayre are big losses, but Harris partnering up with Vescio up forward is going to make for some exciting football next season.

We also (sadly) traded Bianca Jakobsson to Melbourne in return for pick 12, which will get us back into the earlier part of the draft after trading our first three picks for Collingwood's B+F winner, Nicola Stevens. Stevens is a massive get for us, she's still young and can either play off half back or run through the middle. Her and Davey are going to be a very versatile and formidable duo next year.

From our 2017 squad, we've delisted: Alison Brown, Hayley Trevean, Kate Darby, Tahni Neston, Jessica Kennedy, Rebecca Privatelli and Jordan Ivey.  Privatelli will likely get picked up elsewhere, my bet would be GWS. Sad to see her go. Jordan Ivey is a bit unlucky, probably would have remained on the list but did her ACL in a VFLW match, and with the smaller squads we can't afford to keep any players who won't play for the season. Keep an eye out for her in the 2018 draft though.

We've also added rookie pair Maddison Gay and Kerryn Harrington.

Summary:

In: Tayla Harris, Nicola Stevens, Maddison Gay and Kerryn Harrington
Out: Bianca Jakobsson, Bella Ayre and Nat Exon (traded); Kate Darby, Rebecca Privitelli, Tahni Nestor, Jess Kennedy, Alison Brown, Jordan Ivey and Hayley Trevean (delisted).

Now bring on 2018  :D

I thought Privatelli showed plenty. Bloody tough just needed a bit more fitness.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: VFL Practice Match: Northern Blues vs Werribee on Sunday at Arden Street
Surprised Freo or WC have not looked at him closer, not sure SOS would take an unproven 27(2018) year old  player on but I think he could make a handy rookie for a club...
Ben Saunders at 26 would interest me...looks like he could handle the AFL and seems to be able to lead well and take strong marks one on one....Not true KP but more of that Jack Darling, Jake Stringer type of sized player who would play 3rd tall forward. Be a good player to have as a rookie while Kerr. McKay Jack and Ben Silvagni develop.....
Shane Nelson played well for the WAFL and has been unlucky not to be rookied over the years, probably too late now but I'd love to know why clubs have passed on him given the consistency he has showed....maybe his small frame is the only reason.

Definitely too old for us.

But he'd fill a spot on someone's list , even as a rookie, if they were light on in his position.

Nelson gets Mitchell type stats every week. I'd have him as having more AFL qualities than Kerridge but just lacks a bit of size .

I called for Manning to be drafted 2 years ago.

You're a fair way in front of me then.

I only saw him as a bit of a highlights player but he had a few moments in the state game playing HBF where he looked very good. Had one bit were he smashed into the Vic player (in a pack)  took the ball off him, ran off handballed to another WA player , ran past received the handball and delivered a lace out pass to the forward through traffic.

I haven't seen Boek (or bugger all players for that matter) do that kind of thing. It was the physical attack that won it but the polish after was terrific.

WAFL beat the VFL easily in the state game.....Cam OShea got a bit of footy but he had plenty of opportunities given the amount of ball that when down back.
Saunders the WAFL Full Forward slaughtered the VFL backs and probably should have kicked 12, bit undersized KP wise for AFL footy but is a strong unit who marks the footy well...Tom OSullivan the Port midfielder was seen as BOG...I didnt agree..

Did you watch it EB?

What did you think of Kody Manning?. plays as a medium forward for West Perth but played as a BP/HBF in the state game and looked pretty good in the half I watched. Hard at it. Think Dennis Armfield but with real footballing nous and skills. Bit slower than Dennis, but who isn't. Probably a bit old for us but better than quite a few of the numpties on lists at the moment.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Rd 10: Post Game Prattle: Carlton vs North Melbourne
I don't believe he's being selected on name only but Jack Silvagni seems a bit down on confidence since he hurt his shoulder so a spell of a couple of games in the VFL wouldn't do him any harm.
Wasn't his sort of game.

Also wasn't Sumners, SPS or Fishers.

I reckon they'll reset and see he they go in the games after the bye.

On form I'd have dropped SPS but its development, not wins.

Sumner is a very ordinary footballer, surely Jaksch should have gotten a game with Jones unavailable.
I'd sooner Buckley than Sumner, and I agree with LP about Casboult.
He plays the odd good one but mostly he's a liability, he's just not up to AFL standard but the sad state of our list means that he plays every week.
Good luck to Macredie, he seems to be a decent young player.

I think being able to play to instruction is a big part of selection.
