I haven't seen the presser. Anyone know how many times Bolts used the word 'growth'?

Surely there is something wrong. Most of our players are better than that. Bolts is a teacher. He talks like it. He coaches like it. I imagine that style would really pi$$ off some players after a while.

And I don't buy that Murphy was a huge loss and would have made a difference. He's not a 'Follow me boys and I will show you the way' type of leader.

Jack is a 3rd tall forward who will be more effective when we get two decent KP Forwards who are the main targets...Jack isnt quick but is a footballer rather than an athlete who relies on smarts and nous to get the job done. He was no superstar at U18 level so the high expectations are based on the Silvagni name rather than his initial abilities and form.
I think he has to work hard to be a better player as he isnt a gifted player who can live off talent alone but I think he can and will...

Cheers mate. Good points. I think you summed him up well.

Hey guys I just wanted to get everyone's thoughts on Jack Silvagni. I'm a big Sydney Roosters fan as well and live in Qld, so you guys are definitely closer to the Club than I am.

I wanted to know if you guys think Jack is the answer was a forward. I know I risk being hung and quartered, speaking about such a great Carlton family, but he just seems so slow to me. I would have thought speed off the mark would play a big part in leading for the ball? I get that he is young, but you don't 'learn' speed.  I don't think he is a great kick either but that IS something that can be taught.

Anyway, I'm happy to get smashed here. Would like your thoughts.

It amazes me that Simmo is not talked about in the same way that ppl speak of Fyfe, Pendlebury, Selwood etc.

Simmo is an out and out superstar. I'm too scared to think about what our club would have been like without him over the last 5yrs. What he has been able to do in this game, with his body type & the brave way he plays, is nothing short of incredible. He is the Quarterback of our team. He showed it again today. Composed at all times, organising (with Docherty)  and those young kids like Williamson, Ploughman and Marchbank are gonna learn so much from him.

And that goal....with the little shimmy to fool the defender........

Yes. I do have Man Love for Simmo.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: 2017 Round 4 : Post Game thread - Carlton V Gold Coast
Thought the effort was outstanding. We are always going to struggle against a big forward like lynch. We just don't have the defender to do it.

Once again though I'm disappointed with the skill errors made by our Captain. Missing targets. But what disappointed me the most was his attempted tackle on Assad, who just shrugged him off. The captain is supposed to set the example.

I don't understand why Gibbs and Murphy don't come under more scrutiny on here. I can understand young kids making bad skill errors but when your leaders are constantly doing it, what hope have we got. Some of Murphy's kicking and handballing was diabolical. First quarter we are on the attack with some quick handpassing and Murphy handballs it directly to a Dee 2 metres away. This is our Captain. And constantly picking the wrong option and handpassing to players who are tackled as soon as they receive it.
And we are behind with time running out and Gibbs kicks across field (instead of down field) and it was never going to get to it's target. Goal. That's another one of our leaders.
I get this year will be frustrating and I also get that the guys gave 100% today. But when our so called 'A Graders' are making these errors, it doesn't set much of an example for the kids to follow.
Armfield was disgraceful.
I think it was the kids and Simpson and Kruezer that kept us in that game.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: 2017 Rd 1 Post Game Analysis: Carlton vs Richmond
Everything has just about been covered I reckon. For the life of me though, I don't get how players that reach this level can miss so many short handballs. I'm talking 2-3 metres. It's so damn frustrating as a fan. Time after time attacking opportunities come unstuck due to errrant hand passing.

I'm under no illusions as to where our Club is it. And I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we got the wooden spoon this year. But honestly I thought we looked like an U18 team today. Not just the abysmal skill set, but the physical stature of players. We have so many guys out there that look like that kid that hands me my Quarter Pounder through the drive thru window.

Gonna be a long and frustrating year. And if you don't convince yourself that there is a plan in place and you need to trust the process, then you will end up in a mental home.

Finals would be a Bonus but not going to happen in my opinion. We will still have ups and downs.

No matter what happens from here this season is a Win for me and probably even the equivalent of playing finals. A win like that against Geelong certainly gives me the same satisfaction.

We are the perfect example of how fans can be satisfied with a loss, as long as our players give everything they have got. 100%. The thing I now love about our Club is that it's so obvious that every player is aware that 100% commitment is a non-negotiable. You either give it, or you don't play.

Players like Garlett, Yarran and Menziel wouldn't have bought into that I wouldn't think.

Once we went three goals down I thought the injuries had caught up with us. Just shows the belief this team has. We are not the most skilful, but no on works harder.

Don't really like putting a negative on such a wonderful effort, but surely there are 2 kids ready to go that would give us more than Jamo and Walker? Jamo looks like he no longer belongs and I don't know what's going on with Walker.

Kruezer was outstanding for mine. No harder worker in the game.

Blah-Blah Bar / Gidday from Gold Coast
Hi guys & gals
My first post and just wanted to introduce myself. 49, married with two beautiful girls , living on the Goldy and whilst I don't get to many games, I am a member and each year flirt with divorce due to the amount of Carlton ISC gear I purchase.
Initially from NSW and remember as a very young boy turning the Tele on and watching this strange game they called Aussie Rules. I am a mad Sydney Roosters fan in the NRL. What I noticed about this game was the team wearing these beautiful navy blue uniforms with this cool emblem. And there was this guy that wore a head band, balding head, who used to take guys heads off. The commentator called him the flying doormat. I also loved this gangly guy that seemed to be able to mark over players much bigger than him. His name was Ken Hunter. Ever since then I have loved Carlton and followed ever since.
Really look forward to reading the posts on here. For what it's worth I am a big Kade Simpson fan. I love his heart
Cheers
