Robert Heatley Stand / Round 8 Green Shoot of the Week
More of a challenge after a loss:

Choose ONE ONLY Green Shoot you observed from the game.  Can be a player, passage of play and individual effort, any ONE Shoot that put a smile ???? on your face.

If I was Bolts I would have loved the fact that twice we dropped behind and could have tossed in  the towel and twice we dug in and hit back!

Green shoot :  Team attitude today.

Robert Heatley Stand / Green Shoot of the Week
Considered starting this last week, trying to extract a positive from a negative and using our coach's vernacular...Green Shoots.

Choose ONE ONLY Green Shoot you observed from the game.  Can be a player, passage of play and individual effort, any ONE Shoot that put a smile ???? on your face.

I'll start off with 'The fearless willingness of Zac Fisher.' No a great game, but you can put on weight, bulk up, gain strength etc, but you can't teach courage. He's got determination and courage.

Worthy of a Green Shoot acknowledgement.

Blah-Blah Bar / The Irrelevant Logie Awards
Back in the 70's and before, Logic Night was compulsive viewing.  Bert was at the top of his game, we couldn't wait to see which overseas stars made geese of themselves and we seemed to take a genuine interest in the results.

They were on tonight, I neither knew nor cared and came across the program by accident, stayed 5 minutes and left.  Is it me, is it a sign of the times, is it because TV Week is no longer a household essential?

Just a massive yawn!!

Blah-Blah Bar / Tramps Like Us
Springsteen nailed it again last night at AAMI! All I can say is, if you haven't seen this guy live, 'Do yourself a favour'.  67 years young, does not stop for 3 plus hours AND DELIVERS! #bucketlistmust

Blah-Blah Bar / RIP GlennFrey
Will this ever stop.....

Glenn Frey passed away at 67.  No purer sound than all Eagles in full voice in concert.

Just wont be the same again.   RIP Glenn Frey

Blah-Blah Bar / Summer Sports Reading
With all the talk around Juddy's book, are we able to compile a list of 'must read' sports books that we should get our hands on for some summer reading.

Two from me:
Andre Agassi 'Open'. Indifferent about reading it, but it was most compelling! A great read!
Stan Alves 'Sacked Coach: Life...Football...Death'.  Great, honest insight into the 'goings on' at St Kilda in the late 1990's and a lot more.

Robert Heatley Stand / For Discussion
The first of the 2016 Preditions in the media: Herald Sun today.

DARK NAVY BLUES

WOODEN spooners. It’s hard to see Carlton winning more than four games and climbing off the bottom of the ladder to avoid back-to-back wooden spoons. The Blues brought in 15 new players during the off-season and while they aren’t short on talent, they are on experience. Brendon Bolton will be given time to mould the list into a premiership outfit and 2016 will about giving them exposure. Carlton took four key position players from its five national draft picks, with Jacob Weitering the only one equipped to step straight into senior footy. Harry McKay, Charlie Curnow and Jack Silvagni will all take time.

Thoughts.

Robert Heatley Stand / History Lesson: Oh How Things Can Turn Around
"Statistically, 2011 was Port Adelaide's worst season in 141 years, finishing 16th with only three wins from 22 games. Rounds 20 and 21 saw the club lose to Collingwood and Hawthorn by record margins of 138 and 165 respectively. The 2012 season was marginally better but a loss against Greater Western Sydney resulted in senior coach Matthew Primus stepping down. Assistant coach, Garry Hocking, took over for the remaining four games, with a draw in the final round against Richmond the best result.

On 8 October 2012, Ken Hinkley was announced as the new senior coach of the club. This marked the first time that the club had appointed someone not associated with the club before since Fos Williams in 1950. Television personality David Koch was named chairman of the club and numerous board members were replaced. The 2013 preseason also saw Travis Boak succeed
Domenic Cassisi as the captain of the club.[62] The club finished the home and away season 7th on the ladder, making it the first time that they had qualified for the finals since 2007. Port travelled to Melbourne to play Collingwood at the MCG in an Elimination final where they won by 24 points; they then lost to Geelong by 16 points the following week."

There was no bigger basket case in the AFL than Port Adelaide. Not a cent in the bank, no supporters, a distinct lack of on field talent, a playing list that just didn't care and no future.

With the right personnel at the top, a teacher in front of the playing group and an ENJOYABLE work environment, things can very change quickly.

I just hope BB, The Judge and Trigg are up to it, because THAT is where it starts!

Robert Heatley Stand / Crystal Ball
We are being sold a significant amount of hope at the moment, if we we are patient!!

If we are to believe that we will be contenders in 5 years time (circa 20/21), there are 2 questions to ponder: who will win the next 5 premierships?  Which of our greatest rivals (Richmond, Collingwood , Essendon) will win one.

Or in other words, do we have the correct strategy and structure in place to beat at least a couple of the sworn enemies (Ess, Coll, Rich) to the next premiership.

16: WCE,  17 WCE. 18 Bullies. 19. Collingwood  20: GWS. 21 Carlton.

Bad luck Tiger and Bombers!!!!
