Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Post Game Passion; AFL Rd 19: Carlton vs North Melbourne
Don’t know what all the suprise doom and gloom is about, we had no key forwards against Tarrant and McKay who held out the West Coast forward line in Perth recently, trying to use Cripps or Kennedy as forwards was only robbing Peter to pay Paul admittedly delivery wasn’t very good but the blokes who have been clearing the way for Walsh etc to deliver we’re standing in the forward line waiting for it. TDK was given a lesson by a bloke who has been one of the best ruckman in the league for nearly 10 he’s crafty, strong and a great tap ruck and has toweled up many a athletic opponent in his time. He tapped it to Cunnington on of the real good clearance mid fielders and a bull. Our bull was trying to play full forward. Larkey had a day out but is a good developing FF who enjoyed having Cunnington and Anderson kicking it to him.
They were able to play a game style they have been building and started to do well with chalking up a victory over the Eagles in Perth and a draw against Giants.   We were trying to play a game foreign to us and held on in the first half but then the wheels fell off and we completely lost our way.  No team can absorb the injuries we had for this game especially to key forwards one or two of McKay Charlie Gov Casboult even McDonald would have helped Pittonet or Casboult and TDK rucking allowing Silvagni to be #3 tall forward and moving Cripps and Kennedy back to the midfield..
As for Murphy those on here sh…tcanning him have short memories of someone who has served this club with distinction through some bloody tough years hoping we would improve enough for a flag shot in time for him to be part of it not p..ssing off to Geelong only to be let down by those in the background recruiting poorly and appointing coaches. One who tore our heart out by selfishness then one who took us back to square one starting over. He stuck around to give some experience it would be an honour to have him as a 300 game Carlton player and he deserves to be given those games that is how you build club culture. It’s hard enough to play one game but someone like Murphy has played nearly 300 and doesn’t deserve to be criticised by losers on here who haven’t had the talent or guts to play 1

Excellent Post.

Thanks Tommy.

Blah-Blah Bar / Re: CV and mad panic behaviour
I know that the data is the data, but the data is somewhat detached from the human experience and we can lose sight of the forest from the trees.

I just got told a story, about a mum aged 40 who had a severe reaction to AZ, where she was on an induced coma in ICU for 3 weeks as a result to bleeding on the brain.

She is a damned if you do and damned if you don't story as she is also a thyroid cancer sufferer which would make her a high risk to COVID as well.

Thing is, 40 year old, 2 daughters, and is now going to spend the better part of the next 12 months learning to walk, talk and feed herself.

This is the human side to this snakes and ladders coin flip stuff about vaccines, and rightly or wrongly (correlation vs causation is not mine to judge) but 10 days out from the AZ vaccine with constant headaches is a tell that maybe the two are linked, but that's not my expert judgement, nor the point of this post.

Her name is Alyssa.  Her story has been published to a facebook page called Verde Baby.  If its not a true story, then its despicable.  If it is a true story, then it goes back to why some healthy skepticism isn't a problem, and why perhaps when we post on social media about data, numbers, strategy and what not, it all gets a bit lost in the story of the right thing is not necessarily the right thing for everyone.

IF AZ is capable of doing this to a 40 year old then we need to rethink the strategy.  Sure some people are going to say its 1 in how many, but thats one too many via a deliberate strategy for mine.  The risk profile cant be that high, and imagine this lady doesnt pull through, and then her daughters are left without a mother?  COVID may not have actually done that to her (it might have but we cant know any different now).

Very sad story regarding that lady Thry.

I am due to have the second jab next Tuesday.
I saw my GP last week and asked him some questions about vaccine ( astra zenica ).
He asked me if I drove a car. I said yes and he said that every time I use the car I am around 3000 times more likely to
have a driving accident  than I am having a problem with AZ.

Interisting .

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Post Game Frustrations: AFL 2021 Rd 14: Carlton vs GWS
There are a lot of Plow cynics around here, has anyone besides me noticed him missing?

Personally, I think he was exactly what we needed yesterday.
LP, I reckon you would find that a majority of Plows knockers have never been anywhere  near a football boot.

He's been in the top 5 or 6 players in the B and F the last few years .
While the judges are not the greatest coaches, they have all played a lot of footy.

Plow is a very handy player for us.
