Lions could go in extra cocky and have been drinking their own bathwater with all the press picking them to be premiers in 2024. Shame we didnt have all of our key pieces out there but good teams find a way to be competitive and I expect a contest from a Voss coached team and not a capitulation with injuries as excuses..
Fair call, I don’t think we’ll get the win tonight. I’m concerned that we played our 2 preseason games like the start of last year, not like we finished the year. If we turn up and play like we ended last year I’ll be happy with any result but right now with our injuries I don’t trust us to turn up and perform.
It seems that Sam's lawyers are doing what they can to have the charge dismissed.
She appeared in court via a video link and I believe that only one reporter made the link between the charge and Sam Kerr. That put paid to the "keep shtum until it goes away" approach, but it nearly worked.
Her future as Matildas' captain would depend on whether she's found guilty and what was actually said. Of course, a recent official investigation found that "The Metropolitan police is broken and rotten, suffering collapsing public trust and is guilty of institutional racism, misogyny and homophobia." That's got to tilt the scales of justice Sam's way.
I’m interested in two points, if your captain is accused of racism, how does that affect her team mates, let alone the corporates ? If her lawyers are trying to get it thrown out of court, she’s guilty…
My comment that “justice delayed is justice denied” is amplified by the fact that the incident took place in January 2023.
And it seems that Sam Kerr didn’t inform her club or Football Australia about the incident.
According to a soccer journalist who was on the wireless this morning, the HUN is calling for Sam to be sacked as Matildas’ captain. A predictable, sensationalist response from a grubby newspaper.
If the above accusations were correct, would you want her as captain of your team ?
The start of the season will be a great test of our depth, as much as we would like wins what I think will be more important is how we go about games win or lose. To me that is going to be the tell.
The question being, "Did the players mean what they said midway through last season?"
Win or lose, will they have each others back, will they work for each other and sacrifice for each other?
I tend to agree. I’m fearful that a poor start will see the feral “fans” start baying for coaching blood again
btw., What does SolarPV run on, we'll as far as I know that's hydrogen fusion courtesy of the sun!
Who the hell cares ? Stop twaffling!
Let’s just get those stinking, noisy, personal and global health hazard ice vehicles off the roads. They should be consigned to the “What were we thinking ?” aisle of the national museum, not held up as some virtuous saviour of humanity.
And down the track if a better, cleaner energy than solar and battery storage comes along then that’s even better news.
My understanding is that with ev you can buy or generate a KWh put it in your car and drive, that is your cost. With Hydrogen you need 4-5 times the volume of electricity, that is its cost… currently. It’s a long way behind. Even if every petrol station in the country became a Hydrogen dispenser overnight, who would buy it at 4-5 times the cost of a volt ?
You’re still not addressing the hydrogen conversion costs LP. I don’t care which tech “wins” but right now ev are ahead by the length of Flemington straight and that isn’t going to change in the next 10-20 years. Battery’s will become cheaper, they will charge quicker and likely go farther, Hydrogen is a long, long way behind.
I guess the biggest issue with our pre season form is that we seem to be playing like we were at the start of last season rather than the end… All I know is that the GoDees had everything to play for, we beat them last preseason and killed their premiership dreams, have no illusions, this game meant more to them than us. Every team has had 6 months to pull apart what we did well last year and they WILL apply the blowtorch to us. Will we live up to the expectations that some have for us ? I hope so but I doubt it. I think making finals again will be success, once in the finals we can be allowed to dream but I think most can see that the next month or two without Weiters will be tricky. Young doesn’t seem to have it and big Durds is coming back off injury. Only in the wet dreams of some do we make a prelim in 2023 and push further in 24, more likely that we’ll slide and need to regroup.
