Robert Heatley Stand / Re: When Is The Honeymoon Period Over?
Clarkson had one more win only than Bolton at the same stage....its a fair point Jim makes remembering Hawthorn were a basket case when Clarkson took over.
Saints record when Pelchen traded out everything was also poor....bottom, 4th bottom and bottom again, taken them a while to rebuild and move up the ladder.....one bad loss to Port and we are questioning the coach who we have to remember is also learning his craft and tactically etc is a novice...

True.

I've backed them in for bringing in the kids reasonably quickly and it will be interesting to see if they think they had a few too many kids in.

I've got no problem even if they think it was a mistake, it happens, there's no hard and fast rules . We have to know what the tipping point is.

My feeling is a few more mature bodies this week.

Cuningham (who really looks like he's added some size to his frame) for Polson or Fisher.

Both of those blokes will get hammered by the Swans' mids. i'd even play Graham he needs to be decent  crack in the 1s otherwise why the f... did we retain him?

I like the idea of Cuningham coming in for one of the other kids.

Mature rig, can run out a game and tackles like a beast.

For me the honeymoon period finished round 1 last year.

It's about growth and improvement in all facets at the club.

This is a test of the club not individuals.

An example might be a competitive seconds team, which we might have finally. Recruitment of high end talent and their progress.

Individuals and positions come and go. Hopefully Bolts and all the people at the start of the journey are there when we're successful but it's very unlikely.

Bolts, SOS, Trigg, McKay,Craig etc might play a role in the success but may not be there to finish. Likewise there's bound to be people we don't yet know of who may contribute plenty .

He was Booed at the GC game during the intro, on the field and some supporters even after the game just wanted to talk about his game and nothing else.
I'm no fan but I dont hate him and reckon he is trying but I wonder if this weeks rest is about giving him a mental break as well..

I get annoyed with players but the bile directed at Thomas is disgusting.

I don't think anyone hates Daisy. He's well liked and doing his best, just that, sadly, his best doesn't seem to be any better than an honest average these days.

Glad Crippa has come up.

Ripper that young Polson gets his initiation.

Hopefully 'Flip' can take a leaf out of the Tractor's book re second, third, fourth efforts...

I think we can say with certainty there's quite a few Daisy haters.

Disagree, need to keep some old heads - and bodies - out there.

Palmer for Daisy the obvious 'swap'.

Polson's a small kid, seemingly without the gifts of a SPS (with all respect) or the size of a Curnow the younger or Weitering....

there's no real hurry. Fisher looks likely.

Polson has a very mature rig.

Looks like a slightly thicker version of Murph and a much stronger version of Murph at the same age.

Very powerful through the legs and arse.

Particularly when we were called back when there was a clear advantage and allowed to play on when there was no advantage.

If the play stops, as happened with the Ablett goal, there shouldn't be an advantage opportunity.  If the play is continuous, allowing advantage is appropriate.

It's not rocket science but it should be within the competence of all umpires to determine when to apply the advantage rule.

There's no excuse for letting a mistaken advantage call proceed.

It's one of the few times a ump can change his mind and re-start play.
