Swans cannot maintain this page with 2 down.

They are outnumbering us at every contest.

They'll be 6-7 goals up by the time they tire, and won't let us in.

Outclassed massively.

We just aren't running hard enough this qtr. Need to get the sub on for Curnow to take any advantage.

We'll lose it this qtr if we don't pick it up fast!!

Not our night...Swans are running harder, working for each other more and they have all their mids playing well and we cant cover them all.
Mumford has also been a factor...Warnock is trying hard and picking up the odd kick but I think the big Mummy has controlled the ruck.
Unless the Swans run out of legs and players we wont be coming back in this one.....

How can we still be in touch with this weak work rate. Yehhh that's right we are resting for the second half where we will launch an ambush on the Swans. ::)

Have we laid more than 5 or 6 tackles for the entire quarter. Why are we jogging around not checking our direct opponent. How does McVeigh get 20 touches of the footy in a quarter. I better go read my other thread, because it might settle me down, knowing its a tactic we are using in footy.

Surface is sh1te - a bl00dy disgrace for an AFL final.

Swans' intensity fantastic and blowing us out of the water for contested ball and stoppages, amazing were so close! Let's hope we can just outlast them.  :(
Title: Re: In Game Swans v Blues
Post by: malo on September 14, 2013, 08:56:05 pm
Is this a final ?....absolutely no pressure !  I just saw a swans player on his knees with the ball.....weighing up all the options before picking one & was still 5 meters clear !!!  No finals atmosphere out there at all.

BTW....this ground is sub-standard, almost bordering on dangerous.

20 in a quarter. Some of our blokes be lucky

20 is a record for any player in a quarter, in a finals game. Corey Enright had the next which is 17. Or was that Joel Corey ? What does it matter, it never should happen if the pressure is applied.

Inside 50s are almost level but the quality of their entries far outweighs ours. Unless we move the ball with more speed and precision they'll continue to eat us up.

Did those fkn prick water the ground? Surely not that much dew in Sydney?

I heard it was watered. Either last night or this morning. Stoopid idea if true. Grass doesn't take that fast and is too long to start with.

Title: Re: In Game Swans v Blues
Post by: bignic on September 14, 2013, 09:07:42 pm
Ah well, same old same old.
Firstly, everyone needs to remember, despite the two comebacks in the last two weeks, we are not that good. That's why we finished NINTH.

Secondly, Mcguiness should not have got a game this week. He has done zero for two weeks and was a major passenger/embarrassment last week. Anyone, would have been better than him. Duigan, was a fluke last week. There were reasons why he didn't get a game all year, he's not fkn good enough at this level. Armfield kicked a goal. Yipee!!! on his own, plenty of space no pressure. Typical. He had a chance later in that quarter with two options, picks the worst option. Won't put his body on the line. Yarran and Garlett, another two who are  terrific, when they are on their own, but the Swans don't let them get on their own. Casboult, thus far completely useless except to give Robbie a rest from ruck duties. There are other problems to numerous to mention.

Thirdly, Mcveigh. It's no ones fault but Malthouses. How he has allowed that to happen, 20 possessions, is a fault that Mick has been accused of having for years. He won't make changes quickly enough.

NOW. Horse knows that his team is down a rotation. nd I bet he would have like a 6 goal buffer.

It will come down to this, in my opinion.

If we are fresh enough and put in like the last two weeks, we win because the Swans will tire. At least, that's what should happen.

However, the game won't win itself. Let Mcveigh continue to run amok, leave us without a forward line to kick to, just empty space, let every tackle slip through our arms, AND, not change the boots to at least attempt to stop the continuous slipping, and we can say it was lovely having the opportunity to play in finals, see you next year.

Post by: Goat on September 14, 2013, 09:10:36 pm
I've said it before Duigan was a surprise both times he came in as a defensive forward. Once the opp have a chance to do some home works he's useless. Move him back.

Apart from the Sydney rain, most of the issues are due to last night's rugby game. The grass was put back where the stands were, and the turf there just isn't very stable, nor very dry. Maybe a third of the ground is not up to standard. It doesn't help us much.

Look at the Swan's running without the ball. Incredible but once they swarm our players and win the ball back, we have no one doing similar and harassing on our side. It's like we think that there's a rule which says you can't win the ball back.

Swans running out of puff is the only hope but Freo would be an ugly prospect.

Seen this a hundred times before. You think when a team is a player down, that your team has the advantage. unfortunately, that's what the players think too.

I'll say it again. We didn't finish NINTH, because we were any good.

All year, our kicking skills have been non-existent, our bodies are week and we are easiliy brushed aside, we haven't been able to stick a tackle all year, and this is the big one, we don't have enough players like Robinson, and I'm not talking about his brains, limited, or his skills, limited, I'm talking about the fact that he puts his body on  the line and gets hurt for the team.

Go through them, Gibbs, no. Yarran, no. Garlett, no. Murphy scared to get a knock on the jaw. Walker, no. Jammo, tentative because of his shoulders. I could go on, but can't be fkd.

As I have said all along. We need a huge clean out, and I hope the Board has got the guts to do it.

The belief is simply not there. Not enough: we have 8 players with less than 10 possessions. We can't get our forward structure right, because the ball comes in so slowly. We aren't getting the ball away from the middle and we are being thrashed around the packs.
Title: Re: In Game Swans v Blues

Needed this smashing badly, from my point of view. I've been saying for weeks now that I didn't want the board to get carried away and look at the players through rose coloured glasses.

If you are a genuine supporter, who is interested in the long term future of the club, then you wont make any excuses, for tonights cperformance, you won't blame Mick , or even the players as such.

You will just accept that we are batting out of our league, way out of our league.

Not even a single point in the entire quarter. How humiliating. Hasn't happened to us since 1954 in a final. What the f@ck was that cr@p. Our club tonight is a complete f@cken joke. Don't even want to watch the last quarter.

We have been re-acquainted with planet earth - with a BANG! Sorry to say we are totally outclassed here - MM has much to do over the coming weeks and months.

Carlton 4 - 8 - 32 to Sydney 13 - 8 - 86: 9 goals the difference.

Walker has had 25 possessions, but I don't think one of them has hurt Sydney. McVeigh has had 34 and Hannebury 30 and they have hurt. They have so many contributors, and we have so little.

Our talls being out marked by their mids!!!

Warnock back to his bad old self, Mumford's aggression has put him back in his place.

Casboult is a spud, his boosters will say Ted Richards hit put him out of the game with a high hit. But that doesn't explain the bulk of his pathetic first half, he must be the dumbest player on our list Robbo included.

Waite is going against three and the others cannot be seen anywhere contesting.

McInnes is a rabbit in the headlights in finals, lucky he doesn't have a shell on his back or he would be a tortoise.

People will blame our mids, but we have two ruckmen out there that specialise in watching Mumford slam our mids into the ground after every stoppage.

What a joke. Mot even a single quarter. not even a rushed point do to pressure. Nothing. The look on Micks face says it all.

Only good thing is this game exposed us. Last few games wallpapered a cracks all over the pace.

After a few games games we were due for a mentally weak one. It's the lazy Carlton way.

Should have mentioned Kade Simpson as another together with Robbo that put their bodies on the line and bugger the consequences.
Can't think of anyone else.

They aren't going to win, but the only possible way they could win, is to have a forward line. But there is Mcveigh on his own in our forward line.

Can't wait to hear Micks conference. Will he tear them apart, or will he go easy and keep it behind closed doors.

By the way, the last quarter is only a reflection on the Swans being tired, not our team putting in an effort.

Look forward with great anticipation to the trade period.

Had fun posting.

Unless there are major trades that will help us win a flag in our 150th. year, then I will wish all posters, those that agreed or disagreed with me, all the best for the rest of the year.

You can have a bad quarter against many sides and still fight back to win... but not against a top 4 side.

Season over. We're out of our misery... now let's knuckle down and get some serious strength into the side. Bring on trade week and the drafts.

Done and dusted. 8 - 14 - 62 to 13 - 8 - 86
They didn't score in the last quarter. Goes with our scoreless third.

Time to head to the post match thread. It isn't going to be pleasant.
