We were patchy, but in the end we probably did enough to win. Unfortunately, we couldn’t. We were crucified in the 1st quarter and responded poorly. After that we were pretty decent. But we made some horrible clangers that cost goals.

Votes:
[3]   Kreuzer
[3]   Gibbs
[2]   Docherty
[1.5]   Alex Silvagni
[1.5]   Ed Curnow
[1]   Cripps
[1]   Simpson
[0.5]   Murphy
[0.5]   Charlie Curnow
[0.5]   Wright
[0.5]   Marchbank

Explanations:
[3]   Kreuzer:   This was the first time Kreuzer has taken Goldstein on and totally thrashed him. Not only did Kreuzer get kicks and clearances, but also his ruck technique managed to nullify most of Goldstein’s while getting more of them himself. 9 tackles topped off an excellent game.
[3]   Gibbs:   38 possessions and a couple of excellent goals highlighted Bryce Gibbs’ game. He really came good when we needed a lift.
[2]   Docherty:   Docherty started slowly (as did most of our players), but he really came into the game after quarter time and did a great job.
[1.5]   Alex Silvagni:   Excellent in defence, Alex was not rewarded for his tackling this time. However, he managed to keep his man done while getting some very good possessions.
[1.5]   Ed Curnow:   Ed was a 4 quarter player who had 6 marks and 6 tackles to go with his 30+ possessions.
[1]   Cripps:   Paddy started slowly, but really stepped up and kicked a marvellous goal.
[1]   Simpson:   Another typical Simmo game.
[0.5]   Murphy:   Not good early: Dumont was more effect in the first half. After that, Murphy stepped up and was involved in a lot of clearances.
[0.5]   Charlie Curnow:   A more consistent game this round, with 5 tackles and 5 marks. Shows some very good signs.
[0.5]   Wright:   Did get much time near goal, but did get a fair bit of the ball.
[0.5]   Marchbank:   Didn’t get a lot of the ball early, but he kept his man under control and got more on top as the game developed.

Honourable Mentions:
Plowman:   A couple of awful mistakes, but recovered to play a solid game in defence.
Williamson:   Took the mark of the year and did his job well.
Cuningham:   More involved and used his pace nicely. His goal on the run was particularly good.
Graham:   Almost vote worthy. Got more ball and did more with it. Far less peripheral and really hurt North. His kicking can still improve, but it was more like what he produces in the VFL.
Live Long and Prosper!
