Jim Park Voting AFL Rd 2 Carlton vs Western Bulldogs

Voting is as usual: you have 15 votes to award pretty much as you will, with the following provisos:
[1] 15 votes in total, no more, no less.
[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player (even Sam Walsh or Patrick Cripps)
[3] Three players at least must get a mention.
[4] A grade for the game, A+ (what I want to see) to F-.

Someone has to play well.

Whoops. Changed the title. Getting ahead of myself.

I was torn between Cripps and Kennedy getting top votes, but I gave it to Kennedy because early in the game when things were in the balance he basically set the tone. When Cripps pushes forward from the stoppage it's often because Kennedy or Hewett has created the opportunity, but it goes unseen.

This is now the longest premiership drought in the history of the Carlton Football Club - more evidence of climate change?

I spent most of my money on Women and grog.
The rest I just wasted.

To take on and beat last year’s runner-up at a venue that suits them is excellent. Can’t be happier than to bring home a win in the conditions.

Votes:
This is going to be one of those weeks when I find 15 votes a challenge.
[2.5]   Patrick Cripps
[1.5]   Matthew Kennedy
[1.5]   Charlie Curnow
[1.5]   George Hewett
[1.5]   Marc Pittonet
[1.5]   Sam Walsh
[1]   Harry McKay
[1]   Zac Williams
[1]   Sam Docherty
[0.5]   Lochie O’Brien
[0.5]   Jacob Weitering
[0.5]   Zac Fisher
[0.5]   Jack Silvagni

Explanations:
[2.5]   Patrick Cripps:      What a game! 11 clearances, 35 possessions and 2 goals.
[1.5]   Matthew Kennedy:   For most of the game he was strong and solid, but in the last quarter he switched gears and was simply brilliant. He marked well, especially when it was needed late in the game.
[1.5]   Charlie Curnow:   In most weeks this would be a 3-vote effort. Charlie was so dangerous every time he got near the ball.
[1.5]   George Hewett:   Thrashed Bontempelli and still got a lot of the ball. 32 possessions and 7 clearances.
[1.5]   Marc Pittonet:      May not have got the possessions, but he really set the game up with his display in the ruck. His improvement this year has been a significant factor in our two wins.
[1.5]   Sam Walsh:      Considering he had so little pre-season, Sam was brilliant. He will get better.
[1]   Harry McKay:      12 marks for a key forward and he can only manage 1 vote! 4 goals and thrashed his opponent all night.
[1]   Zac Williams:      A strong effort on the night with 27 possessions in defence.
[1]   Sam Docherty:   An excellent effort.
[0.5]   Lochie O’Brien:   Deserved more than this. It was an effort that shows just how much he has improved so far this year.
[0.5]   Jacob Weitering:   For a guy who looked to be carrying an injury, he destroyed his opponent.
[0.5]   Zac Fisher:      A good effort from Fish. Much better than he’s been for quite a while.
[0.5]   Jack Silvagni:      The heart of the team. Does his job, makes an impact!

Honourable Mentions:
In most ‘normal’ games these guys did enough to get votes, especially Setters, who played one of his more mature games. But there were only 15 votes to share.
Mitch McGovern:   Another solid game and probably did deserve a vote. 2 bad mistakes but kept his opponent quiet.
Adam Saad:   But for some nerves in the last quarter than almost lost us the game, Saad was very good. His run from defence was excellent. Not quite sure what happened there at the end.
Nick Newman:   Like his fellow defenders, Nick got a lot of the pill and generally more than held his own. Again, a bit dodgy there in the last quarter, which cost him a vote.
Will Setterfield:   Putting Setters here is really robbing him of the kudos he deserved. He really did stand up and do what he should. I’m not sold on the way he doesn’t tackle at times, but he was there with meaning this time.
