Title: Anyone Doing FEBFAST
Post by: townsendcalling on February 02, 2014, 06:51:54 pm
 Anyone else doing FEBFAST??

An annual ritual after a 'hectic' Dec / Jan, which is challenging...but rewarding

Does it involve giving up piss? If so, count me OUT!  ;D

I'M THERE too - groan. Doing a full detox to boot - no caffeine, bread, carbs, protein.

Just some vegetables and some fruits!

Not even any coca cola? I smash a 2l one of those at least per day. Yet my teeth are still pristine. Go figure.  ;D

My mrs is doing something similar.

No alcohol
No caffeine
No sugar
No facebook/social media

I'm not stupid enough to commit to something like that personally.  :P

FebFast... terrific stuff.

Love it that the most toxic substances (legally available) to the human body are being targetted as bad - alcohol, wheat, caffeine & sugar. If sugar was a 1/4 as bad as salt it would be banned. In fact, tumours fed sugar, thrive!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonderful that we are waking up to the obvious poisons... which didn't stop me having a few tonight! But I did stop at ' a few '.

The list should of 'bad' should include all soy products (except soy sauce/other fermented soy products)

...and the dictates of fundamentalists and ultra conservative politicians  >:D.

Sugar is our real problem for general health.

Don't envisage too many getting off Meth for Febfast though.

Think they need to move this to another month. Australians giving up alcohol in Summer is unnatural.

Got a few mates doing this and it grinds my gears. You invite them out for a Sunday sesh in a beer garden and 'oh I can't, I'm not drinking'. Meh, save the detox for winter when it's too cold to go out anyway and don't ruin yours and your friends summer.

No, but I take a general "fast" approach to my diet.

During the week (read monday morning to friday night) I eat sensibly.  Salads, grilled meats, lean meats, soup.  Etc.  The whole box and dice.  Stay away from heaviy processed foods, and refined sugars.

Come the weekend I am allowed to indulge a little.  Generally a meal out, or something a little bit more fatty and thats fine.  But its only friday night dinner, saturday night dinner, and all of sunday that fatty foods are allowed, and even then its to be within "reason" i.e. not a Turducken.

Thats when we will have a pizza, or some fish and chips or something like that for dinner.  Not overdoing things.  Helps the body flush poisons, as well as makes dieting sustainable, and when you break it down, we are eating healthy choices for something like 70-80% of the week.

Lunch today is a greek salad.  The best part?  Tomatoes and Cucumbers are homegrown, a bit of onion and olives from the shops, add some home grown oregano, fetta and some olive oil with a splash of white wine vinegar.  Largely the healthiest meal I will eat all week because I am in control of 80% of the ingredients of the dish and know that they are grown as naturally as possible with no insecticides or sprays.  With the garden yielding 5 tomatoes daily this is likely to be lunch every day.  It tastes so much better when you grow it yourself, and if its not filling enough, add chick peas or a tin of tuna/salmon.

Feb fast, I dont see the point of doing it for once a year and struggling to make it through the month.  Not to mention once you stuff it up, its game over.  At least my way is sustainable, and if you do have a moment of weakness, you can console yourself and make it okay by taking away another meal that where you are not in "fast" mode.

Yep.

Friend of mine is doing the FEBFAST that includes: no grog, no wheat, no sugar (only natural sugars found in fruit and veggies), no swearing and no farting in public.

I balked at the last two. No grog, wheat or sugar - easy.  :)

Just had my first drink for February.

A couple of drams of Jura 10. A lovely,  light and delicate scotch with tones of caramel and fruit.

I picked it up at dans for 70 bucks. >:D
