Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Pre Season Hit Out vs Geelong
I tried warning people off about their expectations of Young for this year, and it seems, unfortunately, that i was right.

He looks like the same player as he was last year (at best) but nowhere near the player he was before that.

Not sure whats happened to him, but he is not a long term option and we MUST be chasing some genuine backups ASAP.

I would happily like to wave my magic wand and fix it, but i think its about time we accept it, he ain't the man he used to be.

Not sure yesterday first 'practice match' of the season confirmed anything and anyone and certainly your joking to write a bloke off after one practice match.

I remember watching blokes like Digby Morell look like Wayne Carey in preseason games then was delisted a few years later.

North 17th beat the premier comfortably a few days ago

These games mean SFA, as long as there is no new injuries in these pre season games I'm happy.

It doesn't help the more people pile on and bang on about it, we might think he doesn't hear or read it but he does. You just have to listen to his social media stuff to know how much it impacts him, directly and indirectly through his family and friends who are forced to listen to the bullcrap fans hand out in the stands.
My daughter and her boyfriend went to the the Sydney Elimination final and she said she was so disappointed with the blues fans treatment of Harry. If it wasn't my own daughter telling me i wouldn't believe it but she said there was loud groans when he took a mark within range and then when he missed they booed him!!

I know its frustrating especially in a final but i would never treat any player like that. The bloke is has mental demons and that sort of added negative noise is just making it harder for him.  Stay quiet when he misses and clap and support like mad when he nails one.

Ladies Lounge / Re: AFLW 2023 Rd 7: Carlton vs Collingwood
Being Carl Vs Coll I thought I may give the AFLW another go to see if it’s improved since last watching about 2 years ago. Omg just when I thought it couldn’t get worse it did! What an absolute crapshow this comp is. How anyone can argue it’s entertaining must be very easily pleased.
Over 60s lawn bowls has more excitement than this crap.

Have tuned off for good.

Yes, of course it's balance, but the original point was, ours was all over the shop and we went away from that balance at the selection table.

We fielding a team unlike what had got us there and we lost our balance at the selection table because we were too focussed on the beating them.

We played a team who finished 2nd and played them on a deck they haven't lost on all year. They were fresher and we were banged up. They are a at the very moment a slightly better team and it showed when it mattered. End of story.

Us arm chair experts think so many games are lost at selection but imo its BS.

The dictator leaves behind rental crisis, ambo response crisis, health waiting list crisis, debt crisis, teachers crisis, a cbd crisis, police recruitment crisis, crippling taxes most of any state and a train line that will never be finished!

Then we have the quarantine disaster taking 800 lives. No other place in the world had anything like the lockdowns we did and now as a result have debt our great grand children will still be paying off.

Dan Andrews has pulled the plug after his reign of terror and will officially take the money and run tomorrow at 5pm after spending all of our money and leaving behind a trail of debt..

Bolts with the state on its knees with spiralling debt all overseen by his government- the arrogance and stubbornness this bloke showed throughout his ruling was disgusting. Watch him pack up and leave the ruined state and live out his days interstate regionally before he takes a bigger tumble down more stairs. You watch.

During the last election campaigning he re assured voters despite all the rumours he would not be stepping down and would see his term out.

A liar till the very end.

Motlop lacks the blistering speed that we associate with dominant small forwards but IIRC he has shown he can be a player - more so than Eddie Betts, who developed into a top player but who was gifted quite a few games in his early career.

100%. Motlop, Kemp, Boyd, Dekoning, Hollands are all looking very good for their age and im comfortable we have a capable  young group that once they get a few more seasons under their belt will improve us further.

On the year as a whole, Charlie for whatever reason couldn't play to his high standard in any of the 3 finals. No doubt all our finals opposition coaches put a hell of a lot of work into stopping him and maybe we just thought he would replicate his H/A form. Hopefully Charlie and our forward coaches learn from this and are better equipped when it comes around next year.

Considering how bagged up we were to key players i was happy to just win the first final but to get into a Prelim and play away where they haven't lost all year this group can be proud and will get some invaluable lessons playing so deep into a final series which 'should' propel us further and faster then we would have if we were outed in the elimination final.

Be proud fellow blues, finally we have a team ready and believing and will be in the flag window IMO for the next 5-6 years. Exciting times ahead.

Amazing intel Rocky!!! You have all of our attention mate from now on!

On the Boyd selection while i thought he was developing along well he was nervous in his first few games and made some bad turnovers. Throwing him into a prelim is a massive call as we need cool heads more then ever this week as Rayner, Cameron and co will pounce on any turnovers and make us pay. This selection just makes me nervous.

And Jack not able to be picked cause he lacked match fitness - Yet Boyd is ok to play cold in a Prelim ?

Blah-Blah Bar / Re: Sam Newman at it again!
Sam Newman has doubled down on his comments against the Welcome to Country in a fiery interview, taking aim at AFL legend Adam Goodes and branding the common ceremonies a “hoax”.

The AFL personality stirred up controversy on this week after making comments on his podcast, You Cannot Be Serious, encouraging Aussies to boo or “slow hand clap” during the Welcome to Country, particularly at the upcoming AFL Grand Final at the MCG.

Appearing on 3AW radio on Thursday, Newman was asked by host Tony Jones whether his suggestion was “inciting violence”.

“What an extraordinary question,” Newman said.

“The public have had a gutful of people telling us how to live our lives, particularly footballing organisations. We like to go to the football and watch the game without being told to vote for the gay marriage proposal … without being told to vote for the Voice. Why do they get involved? It is an absolute hoax, it’s a rort, the Welcome to Country. Why do we have to be welcomed to the country we live in? Why is that? It is just a mark of division. The people who welcome you to country get a nice stipend out of it. Why do they charge? It’s just a rort.”

At least he has the balls to voice his opinion which these days it’s seems anyone that has an opinion against the main stream it doesn’t take long for you to be branded, pigeon holed called a racist, homophobic etc.

Freedom of speech is slowly being eroded in this country and imo there needs to be a balance and while not everyone may agree with Newmans opinion he has as much right as anyone to voice it.
