Robert Heatley Stand / Re: R22 Carlton vs CheatsFC Pre Game
Make no mistake, the Mexican hat thing was a feeble final act of defiance from the fans before their club applies the lube and bends over.  It won't seem so funny to them then.

So you are saying the ideal scenario is to turn up in a Mexican Hat covered in inflatable syringes, with a stuffed Monkey glue to your back!

PS. Should I wear giants ears with that, a stethoscope, carry a giant salad roll to much on and have a managers sign on my chest?

I think the syringe thing is dead and buried, even the Scum are taking the piss out of their own side with Mexican hats a plenty!

They say humor is the best medicine, could it also be a bleach!

Personally, I am hoping for one of the greatest all time Robbo's handed out by either Robinson himself or Bell! Casboult could be another one!

Meat has confidence against the Scum and something to prove after that mark late last game. Please let him stand on Carlisle's head and snag one from the boundary!

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Baby Blues vs. Werribee at Visy on Sunday 18th Aug
Okeefe is playing for his career...Bootsma isnt...Okeefe is also more physically developed and we need stronger bodies in the seniors.....we need a good kicking half back flanker with Scotland close to retiring and Gibbs now more likely to be playing further up the ground. Big rewards if Okeefe makes it as a player and Bootsma has time on his side to develop...

I don't think O'Keeffe is tall enough to be a direct swap out for Bootsma, O'Keeffe is more likely to get a run if someone like Tuohy or Armfield went down.

If Crameri plays again O'Keeffe could do a job on him perhaps, but the other forwards O'Keeffe is either too small or too slow.

Having to rotate Waite back to cover for Bootsma being sub'd is not ideal, if we started with O'Keeffe we would already be starting with a very small defensive line up and would lose some of that flexibility. Waite did play better in defense but doesn't look like a defender, that is not his mindset he is more like a taller and slower version of Walker.

Not seeing the weekend game live I did not notice on the replay, but did Bootsma get anytime up forward?

It will be interesting to see how they all go against the EssenScum who I think have a much harder defensive unit than Nthmond!

Sorry but you earn your games in the CFC, not as if Bootsma does much in the twos anyway.

Fair enough to say you need to earn a game, but not fair I think to say Bootsma didn't deserve a run. I cannot say I had watched him directly in recent weeks but my mail is Bootsma probably played his best three weeks of football for the club prior to his recall, and he did that as a KPD. So given Watson went down, White is out for the season and Laidler and Duigan continue to struggle for consistency he seemed the logical if not he only choice!

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Chris Yarran has gone backwards.
I respect Kingy and Lynchy's opinions but I'm sure they don't watch every game of football played so it only makes sense that I would have seen more of Yarran they did. Come to think of it weren't you overseas a couple of years ago?

Looking at the best and fairest for 2011 he finished 10th so that sits about right with my memory of how he played, middle of the road and that was his best year.

No doubt softening memories have them confusing Betts with Yarran, Yarran has never been consistent and Betts should have been AA!

When I went to bed, we were no wicket down for just on 100, I get up this morning to hear on the news we were rolled for 220, that is appalling & thoroughly embarrassing.

 Where's the backbone ??

Was drifting off to sleep and actually thought the score was 0 for 200.

Probably the part where I went in at no.3 and knocked up a quick 70 not out to get us over the line should have tipped me off.

Is that you Shane Watson?

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: The Season Over Thread
Sewell is too slow, even the Dawks realise they cannot have Mitchell, Sewell and Lewis in the midfield together as opposition teams expose them for pace.

We already have too many slower leg types, McLean, Cachia and Curnow. We need some bigger bodies who have pace to work an opponent over. We should be developing guys like Armfield, Tuohy and maybe McInnes to have a midfield rotation as attacking players not as taggers, that will add to someone like Bell and Carrazzo. This would allow the likes of Murphy, Betts and Yarran to stay and work outside were they are best suited.

Not sure you watched the Norp game but Ling's comments about Harvey showed you what smart players and teams can do. They knew Harvey was Norps prime clearance and spread player. But the Norp at the time had nobody else winning as much inside ball either. Ling knew he could not go with Harvey for outside pace and that the other Norp mids were covered. So he said he would shove Harvey into as many congested situations as possible to prevent his spread and it was job done. Now with the new Norp midfield it wouldn't be so easy as they have Swallow, Ziebel and Wells in support! Does that story remind you of anyone, it should that is the same tactic being used against Murphy!

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Rnd 20- Carlton v Bulldogs -Post Match Autopsy
Big rumor MM gave Watson a massive spray about toughening up. In effect if he wanted to be an AFL footballer he could not let a sore foot get in the way!

Now it turns out the kid had a broken bone!

Ouch! If true a bit harsh, could be an apology on the cards!

Where does the rumour come from?

Was told at the pub Watson had some mates, Bumbers fans so not sure they can be trusted, that were sitting behind the CFC bench who overheard a spray and talked about it in one of the bars/pubs after the game. Hopefully just a no substance rumor!

Perhaps it is harsh for MM to be pointing a finger, but having said that Ratten had the players back and what good did that do him or the club?

Something has to change, and I do not think it is necessarily in the coaching or administration staff. I mentioned in another thread, there appears to be a clique that exists between certain Carlton players. To me that means a lack of unity!
