Interesting that we finished with both Kemp and Gov at deep forward when Acres kicked the last. Another one of Voss's scenarios similar to Martin on the last line the week before. Salem is another dog who" tested" Acres shoulder while he was lying on the ground in the first quarter.
Charlie did a good imitation of Kouta, setting up a goal then going back and saving the day in the last line of defence with a great mark. What a player.
I haven't washed my right hand since shaking Alex Jesaulenko's hand Round 11, 1989...but that has nothing to do with our winning games...that's just bragging.
I thought it was because of the Lions clash jumper was too similar to our jumper. That's why when our players looked up and saw a player and kicked it straight to them. Unfortunately it was a Bears player. It can be the only explanation.
That being the case our kicking was the best its been for over a decade!
Lyon's coaching record is a mixed bag. Some terrific seasons, some ordinary ones. 2016,17,18 and 19 were ordinary by any measure. 16th, 14th, 14th, 13th respectively. 4 seasons in a row of lowly finishes has to tarnish the reputation somewhat IMO.
This was a game that in past times we would've lost and lost bravely at that. Its difficult to define but there's been a big turnaround in the culture of the club and it can be measured by these scrappy wins. GWS were well drilled in how to hurt us and open us up on the outside. Not easy to sustain against Voss's Carlton now.
