I would bring in Armfield and Buckley if both fit for their effort and pace (especially at subi).
Buckley has been lambasted by just about everyone who review the recent VFL practice match. Reads like he is sooking it up a bit because the club want him to play accountable football, not just all out attack.
Certainly sounds like we still have problems with our player development. Another area where we don't seem to have moved forward?
We haven't moved forward because we haven't moved Luke Webster on, we seen little progress and he's been there a long time!
Stuffed if I know how the hell he still has a job, in my opinion his results are very, very ordinary and he comes across to me as a finger pointer. That won't help players develop at all!
We seen when he is fit his intent is fine, he is almost certainly playing injured.
LP's diagnosis is OP.
By Murphy's standards;
- Stuff all lateral movement. - Low agility. - No acceleration. - No speed. - No power. - Timid in traffic.
This bloke is playing in pain.
I suspect the only reason he was out there is because the club is bullsh1tt1ng about the current state of the injury list and we have stuff all other options on the table!
I don't understand why this bloke cops so much heat from supporters.
He hasn't played 50 games yet, mostly due to injuries, so we have only ever had glimpses of what he can do. But when fit he looks more than capable of mixing it with the best in the league.
For example, here is a head to head between White, Tuohy, Everitt and Casboult. Keeping in mind White and Tuohy play mostly back which naturally attracts less rating points.
We Can't blame the coach for all our mistakes. Not for the weak effort to stop the Tigers first up. Even without daisy we should have won.
True, but MM is closer to the end than the beginning, and our list is full of beginners!
BTW, our forwards play like backmen, they take their opponents to the contest! We have zero natural KPP forwards. Fev nearly killed O'hAilpin for doing the same!
What Bell needs is to continue to play alongside Judd and for a few of his team mates to step up.
FMD, Bell couldn't keep up with him to play alongside!
Bell got most of his stats at the end of the game when the pace started to drop off and the best we could do was the odd leveller after Nthmond went into cruise mode. Before that he looked like he was running backwards as opponents passed him by!
MMs been there three years, and later this season he will start saying we need to inject some pace and aggression to fix the deficiencies, we will be recruiting blokes like Robbo and Garlett! Let me sell you a ticket to the Merry-Go-Round!
You are correct. He did sweet bugger all, but played mainly in the ruck. Mick did state he will only pick players on form. However, can we really afford to use Jones and Everitt up forward. They were not game winners last night at all. Sure they did something in the first quarter and a half. However they were missing in action from half way through the 2nd quarter until the end of the match. Either that or bring Watson in to be a tall forward.
You cannot reward poor form, it becomes habit forming.
Everitt spent a lot of time down back, I see that as a coaching problem not a player problem. Losing Daisy early did not help, but injuries are no excuse.
PS: Even in the ruck he should be tearing VFL top up players a new one! This is a bloke the club described as flying, going to a new level!
Kade Simpson got knocked out cold by Wellingham a couple of years ago and he's still the same. Getting hit is part of football, the greats get back up and keep going.
Wellingham got five weeks for his dog act, Hodge the sniper got off!
That sort of disparity has an effect on a players mindset, it can leave you feeling unprotected and vulnerable!
By the way, why do those dog acts keep happening to us?
Is it the fact we discard blokes like Fev, Robbo, O'hAilpin and Waite, ones who do actually push back a bit? We don't seem to value the darker side of players at all, but you need it just like the Dawks need Hodge!
At the moment we have White, Rowe and not much else!
............... What we really lack also is a classy 3rd tall type up forward which is why we need Walker back asap. The stuff up was not playing Casboult, Jacksh I like but is no key tall at the moment and only a 3rd tall either end.
Casboult did feck all against Box Hill today, and Box Hill didn't have a single AFL listed player!
Casboult's a real worry, he should be smashing them from anywhere on the ground at VFL level and he is barely scoring! So much for those pre-season reports of him flying!
BTW, Box Hill had zero AFL listed players on the day!

Hawthorn held its AFL-listed players out of the match after a searching intra-squad practice match during the week.
When you read all the various posts, in this thread and others, it seems to point to more pre-season bullsh1t delivered to us from our club. The bullsh1t hasn't changed, just the bullsh1t delivery method!
