I know this is a little off topic (and sorry to everybody if this is the wrong place to bring this up)...but I have just written a book!
It's called "For The Record" and looks at the development of Australian Pop Culture. There are unique chapters dedicated to every year from 1964 to 2017. Each chapter looks at Births, Deaths, News Events, Entertainment News, Sport and the Music that became the soundtrack to our lives.
Obviously there are many references to Carltons success over the decades with scores, facts and figures (but it's not entirely a sport book).
The notes and trivia I have compiled is the information I used when producing a radio show on Gold 104 called "My Generation with Jono Coleman" and "Classic 9 At 9" on Triple M and K Rock. For the first time, everything is about to be released.
As we get closer to publication, I'll keep you all in the loop.

Any reason why its from 1964? The Beatles?
1957 on, would have inclued JOK, Joye, Lonie Lee, Rebb, Chester, Thunderbirds, Atlantics etc.
Anyway you have to start somewhere.

That's a great question.
In radio, the line in the sand tends to be 1964 because of The Beatles and the cultural change and impact they created.
If you hear a station claiming to play hits from the 60s, 70s and 80s - it usually only goes back to 1964.
"Nostalgia stations" like Magic used to go earlier but avoided the later Beatles era.
Different formats for different tastes
Great effort, WW. It's quite a buzz getting your first work published, then your first royalty cheque (with my first cheque I was able to shout the missus fish and chips at Seaford! ;)).
Agree that R&R had it's popular birth with the Beatles. If you wanted to be pedantic you could argue that R&R had it's roots in R&B/Soul dating back to the 40s which many artists of the 50s and 60s say was their greatest influence (eg Elvis/Bill Haley/Chuck Berry/Buddy Holly).
Again, mate, huge congratulations. Massive achievement.

My favourite genre is supernatural thrillers with an underlying social justice theme. I have 3 other works ready for 'rewrites and editing', one of which is being turned into a screenplay. My 'real job' is as a psychotherapist specialising in men's issues around addictions and anxiety. :)

Wow, Fluffy One... now you're cookin'. Couple of real classy names there. Although he was more Jazz/Scat, Cab Calloway also inspired many later rockers. Jordan was James Brown's inspiration. The energy of these cats was amazing.

I've been fortunate to have worked in two related health areas. Nursing and Midwifery, and now Clinical psychology.
My practice, similar to yours, involves working with a vulnerable population. In my case within Child Protection Services. My specialty is working with those children, parents and systems impacted by the inherent, often intergenerational, trauma and attachment difficulties.
In terms of publication, I had a taste as part of my academic pursuits. Needless to say I hot footed it out of academia as soon as I could. I found the knock backs frustrating initially :-[ Then I realised my manuscript just wasn't that good in the world of peer-reviewed journals. A humbling experience. I no longer rushed to open mail from the Editors, although published my research in the end. The process indeed requires persistence and a robust ego to say the least.
That's why what our friend Wet Willie and yourself have achieved is so admirable. I can't help but wonder how many more Bluebaggers have such achievements (for another thread perhaps).

Sure did. Just so others can know what we're rabbiting on about... WW (Steve) and I worked at 3GG together at the beginning of the 90s -- just found out through this site!!! -- he was the Program Manager -- in charge of music/dj's/programming etc -- and I was the Ops Mngr. WW wouldn't tell you this but I can, he had that station sounding absolutely brilliant, had a natural flair and ability for what was a progressive/up/lively sound and went on to be very successful in highly competitive markets.
