Check the photo of Filipino Mary Jane will be lined up for a bullet, alongside our boys.
Our Press don't mourn the others facing the firing squad.
Does the Press get vicarious pleasure from leading us step by step through to rifles crack?

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: NAB Challenge- Round 1 Carlton v WCE
I remember loving Luke Rhino O'Sullivan because he was so strong. Injury shortened his career, but apart from his great strength and power, Rhino lacked skill.

Love the way Tom bangs his weight around too. Not sure about his skill set, and he should work on that in the Twos rather than take a spot where we need Premiership Points

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Tonight
Hmm, I am inclined to agree - to a degree.
But it is a concern if the Forward line could not get goals, if there were not avenues to goal!
If one wins Pre-Season I will join your ho-hum chorus, but losing brings some anxiety.

Gee I would love to be proved wrong, but I think Bell lacks the necessary skill. Great strong guy, goes at it 100%, but class comes from possession of skill.
As for Watson, once again I would love to be proved wrong....

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Watsons Fresh Start
We had great hopes for Watson he is such a nice big edition.
Perhaps he was thrown in the deep end, trying to out muscle Cloke - he did not have a chance.
Watching him in the Twos, sometimes I thought he lacked application.  We will have to see,
Carlton have kept faith in him
and now he is 'of age' perhaps he will find his mojo.
the team mates seem to like him,
Let's hope he has a good year,
'London or the bush' for him
I hope he has a great 2015 and repays all the investment

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Carlton's Big Unknowns In 2015
I don't rue the back of Waite. Loyalty is a factor.  Garlett was an unusual talent but I fear he was playing up too much and that is why we let him go.
For years we lacked Clunking height but last year we did not have the capacity to get the ball in scruffage and move it to advantage.
I am happy for Mick's influence I hope the recruiting now is for hard nut, in under, might skilled, ball getters, because that is where we lost it in 2014

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: So long and thanks for all the fish
It is always with great angst that a club decides to delist.
We recruit great young men, they try hard, we want them to succeed and hope can live on and on...!

Last year we moved-on the following. I checked to see how they flourised in 2014:
* Marcus Davies Port Melbourne, back to Tas for 2015
* Luke Mitchell North  Adelaide  ...?
* Patrick McCarthy,  Glenelg  .....?
* Rhys O’Keeffe,  North Adelaide  ......?
* Frazer Dale South Adelaide   .....?
* Andrew Collins   back home to Bridgewater, Bendigo

None have really distinguished themselves in 2014.
Of course there when hopes are dashed, they might dip the next year.  But in fact they did not show great flourish in their time with Carlton.

I think we remain in Hope too long.
Luke and Patrick were two talls picked up as rather late picks. Great blokes but there is little evidence that they were great picks.

I hope we prune hard this year. I think the following might feel lucky to be with the Blues in 2015:  Watson, Mitch, Brock, Armfield, Ellard, Bell and Graham

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: So long and thanks for all the fish
Mick Malthouse has over the years groomed a number o AFL coaches.
I have a feeling that Buckley was an important acquisition for the success of the Collingwood's premiership.
The game is changing so fast that a coach needs the insights of those who learn in under the packs.
It is important that coaching staff selection is successful. Hope Mick has his say!
Is Brock smart enough to play with NB and be on the coaching staff?

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Carlton B & F
* Being cute, with 18 guys on the paddock, being in the top ten means best half!
Still, I loved the results.
* Can I dare ask why it took so many years to play BryceG in the midfield?  Or did it not make sense to stick SamR down back?
Do we take too long to rely on the obvious?
*Great move to fit Casboult in as the second ruckman/forward !
*Hey our best first year player only got very late games! we wonder why not earlier?

[1] A few of last year's serious underachievers have REALLY improved significantly in 2014. Including the winner. That is something I consider as positive.
[2] We made 3 trade type deals at the end of 2013: Everitt, Docherty and Thomas. All 3 have made it into the top 10 in their first season. Kudos there is obvious to the people who put these deals together.
These are seriously good points
To which I would add Sam Rowe 5th. !!!
How many times has Sam been written off!
Buying MickM is paying off.
Big Time   !!!

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Kreuzer VS Warnock VS Wood - How Will This One Play Out ??
I don't think Warnock is tradeable!
I am not sure he is washed up. He had bad weeks against St Kilda and Swans and it was right to promote Wood.
Maybe Warnock has been crook,  had a special problem...?
The Ticket to Ruck has to be given to Kreuzer.
We were lucky to get him, a quality bloke who has had bad bad luck.
Maybe the age of the monster tall is coming to an end.
Warnock is a good type and he puts in.
He would pay his way even if most of his 2015 was with the Northern Blues

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: The Game Plan - Better, Worse Or Non-Existent ??
It is hard to have a set-play Game Plan in a game with so much variable, but it seems there is no substitute for amazing skills. Judd and now Gibbs can create unimagined opportunity in centre scrummage.
I think Gartlett could achieve more than a crunching Bell or electric Armfield.
The future has to be with players with slick slick skills - Docherty and Lucus are in that category.
We have done well to Slot Rowe. We wasted years before giving Walker a position where he could use his dash..
We all thought Hansen would one day repay trust..
I think MickM is doing a great job seeding talent and polishing defensive and attacking skills. is Game Plan essentially Discipline?
Sadly, other teams have more talented players
