Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Rd 18 2026 Post Game Prognostications Carlton vs Hawthorn
Tonight was a test and we failed.
We planned very poorly for the rain IMO. I stayed home because I checked my trusty metvuw charts (https://www.metvuw.com/forecast/forecast.php?type=rain&region=victoria&noofdays=3) and it was obvious to me it was going to be drenched.  Players trying to scoop up the cake of soap off the deck at full tilt (Wilson, Cowan, Cerra), players flying for high kicks (Kemp, H).
Welcome to Carlton interim coach Fraser.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Rd 18 2026 In game Angst Carlton vs Hawthorn
We are getting feckin crucified by the scumpires. Absolutely screwed over
An absolute disgrace. Are they making mistakes or ???. You have to wonder. Having said that we are not helping ourselves so far, Dawks have adapted to the conditions better.
The Cerra 50m howler aside, umps arent the difference thus far. It's terrible ground positioning and trying to play dry weather footy. Take territory (off the ground preferably) and stop playing pack footy (they are sitting off and getting the footy when it spills or squirts out).

Playing terrible wet weather footy, they have handled the footy much better than us, They probably should be further in front.
That margin is virtually unassailable in these conditions. Shame about George, did not look good in the rooms, hopefully its spasms and not anything sinister.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Rd 18 2026 Pre Game Predictions Carlton vs Hawthorn at MCG
There was a bit of talk in other places earlier tonight, before the teams were announced, that Flynn Riley may play.
He's named as a emergency so we still might see a late change....but it may be for Pittonet.
I was surprised Dean was back so soon, you never know.

I'm not. Did I hear he cut his hand opening a can of cat food?

It's not the ones they pay, it's the ones they miss.

They might claim their game is easier to umpire, but they still miss some absolute howlers. It does make you wonder about a lot of things in the game.
Thankfully, I don't bother. I have enough issues worrying about the umpiring at our games each weekend to worry about things as dodgy as soccer.
From a laymen's point of view, I cant believe how much they get sucked in by players antics. Most of the time when they show the replay there was SFA in it.
I cannot stand the rolling around and the acting. carry on, It could be stamped out in instant. I saw one common sense ref call play on a number of times in one particular game and all of the sudden, the rolling around antics, turned into the players springing up and chasing the player with the ball. More of this please.
