How was that not holding the ball?
and
How was that a free against Harry?

Going to be a long day with umpiring like that.

It ain’t the umpiring - it’s the effort.

It ain’t the umpiring - it’s the effort.

Effort is definitely down, but when you chase down an opponent after his taken about 10 steps, take him to ground without him getting a disposal and you do NOT get rewarded....why would you bother doing it next time?
Umpires MUST reward that effort.

Horrible embarrassing display for a team who still needs another win to lock finals in. Was due for an off week but didn’t expect it to be this bad

Underlying numbers such as tackling and clearances is pretty good well doesn't suggest a 5 goal smashing. Its just everything GCS touch is turning into gold. Could be one of those days - but just need to keep working hard

But that pass to Charlie in the 2nd was sublime.

Dare I say, a good quarter by Dow.  Still ragdolled at times, but has one of the best side steps going around.

Better. 4 goals from Charlie. Still a long way to go from the team that pounded Gold Coast not that many weeks ago.

Its happened a lot more than that. It was happening so often that i started to take notice......and then started making a joke about it....now its just 'a thing' that happens.

He does well, largely, but its its almost something you can set your watch too.

Don't shoot the messenger when I say this please. But I was thinking about what Paul Keating said more than 30 years ago. I am looking at the scoreboard early and I said to myself "It was the loss we had to have". Eight in a row, I was thinking our fellas are tired. Like I said earlier, this is not an easy trip or a walkover, especially on their turf.
But to their credit, this has been a great fightback. I reckon this will go down to the wire. Double chance (more in theory than in practice) or a home elimination final is still on the cards to play for.

And to be honest I’d rather we have to fight and grind this win than recline in the deckchairs, as long as we win !
I do not want to be in a must win next week !

What would we even worse, is if the Giants lose to the Injectors. Then they'll be more desperate and have more to play for. For once, go Collingwood next week. They can have their "minor" premiership, Essendon to miss out on September, then rinse and repeat their famous form in September.

I actually had the same quote in my head.

Teams who end up winning the GF often have a loss in the last 2-3 weeks of the season. It helps them regain some focus.

Seven points down at the time of writing. But, we have three more interchange rotations to make than them. Just got to keep the margin within touching distance... PS. One point and two interchanges less than them.

Ably helped with Martin and Motlop too. Owies has chimed in, but with more behinds than goals. Harry has looked like he has missed some footy really. Then Harry puts us in front!

There's been too many losses after, after the siren for me to bear another one. Port Adelaide (twice, 2000 and 2020), Hawthorn (2001), Geelong (2002). Three years in a row FFS. A behind at the death WON it for us! What a lucky escape. But what a fightback. What a win. Nine in a row. Never easy up there. Not this year. Phew.

There's a week off after the GWS game, so there's the rest 12 or so days. Next week I reckon we'll load up with our best available side and give it everything... good form into the finals is a must.
