Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Rd 22 2023 Pre Game Prognostications Carlton vs Melbourne
Im probably going to regret saying this but I prefer Boyd back in the team down back than Fisher, doesnt mean Fisher cant stay in the 22/3 if his form deserves it but playing the loose half back role is about the easiest job going and id rather a specialist defender first than another rebounder only and while no huge fan of Boyd I think he has more idea defensively than Fisher.
Fisher is playing the McGovern role. Kicker out of defence

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Practice Match 2021 Carlton vs the Drug Cheats
I can’t believe people are talking about adding Moore to the list. He is a DUD full stop. Not a good enough ruck, forward or back even as backup. He played seniors last season and couldn’t get a touch was flicked by Richmond because he wasn’t good enough take the hint “ He’s not AFL standard” Try someone else, anyone else.

It is an indictment on our list management team that these are the only 4 options we have to choose from. These SSP spots should be for interstate league players/players that were previously injured/too young and are now fully developed or 19 year olds not re-tread AFL types.

Hi ElwoodBlues1 - I agree you need to be flexible to match your opponents but i disagree that 8-10 are required.

I believe 7 -8 players to choose from should be sufficient. If you look at all the top teams their backline is stable every week and the mix of players is able to cover the opposition no matter the make up of their forward line. If you look at Richmond Nathan Broad/Grimes Balta are just able to do enough against talls to get the ball to ground/mark or even match up on smaller players.

I agree that some of our current defenders aren't flexible enough to match up on most types. Plowman plays better on the smaller types as he is not very good overhead. I think if Marchbank is ever able to play a full season he will assist with our match ups.
