Robert Heatley Stand / Re: VFL 2019 The Final Practice Match!
I think Fish deserves a little latitude given he missed half a year with a broken leg. Still seems to be going at it 100%, which is great, and I suspect is only a game away from recapturing some form (not that I think he's been that bad, comparatively speaking).

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Post Game Parley-2019 AFL Rd 2: Carlton vs Port Adelaide:
Where's Chuck at,  jarred knee?   What's that mean,  bruising to the internal cushioning/ligaments?

I thought he looked more "on" prior to this happening.

Just came on the Sunday Footy Show and although he sounded pretty positive (i.e. it felt pretty good) he did say he had to wait for the scan results. Seemed pretty confident it wasn't anything serious but who knows.

I think we should look at replacing Garlett in defence with SPS and try Garlett on a wing.
I think that SPS in defence would be a waste. One of the few who can deliver the ball consistently. Happy to get rid of Garlett. What about Kennedy? What's happened to him? Last year he was the great white hope. Now he's a nowhere man.

I don't think it's a dumb idea at all. Ruck, on-ball, backline... anything, just get the kid into the game
On the ball absolutely, but in the ruck, without the experience of playing in that position, could prove disastrous. I'm thinking injury wise. He couldn't play in the backline right now. Confidence is down and if someone gets hold of him could make it worse.

Well that was crapFUL.
Our ability to win the ball and drive it forward into the waiting arms of the opposition thereby allowing their return entry and score should be a stat. We would be the ladder leaders.
Of the new blokes (non-draft) I thought Newman was the best. He's slow but at least he can kick.
Walsh was super impressive. Looks like we've got a good one there.
Charlie continues his poor JLT form. When you get the bronx cheers taking a mark it's a dead give away.
Ed, Gibbons and Fasolo up forward - major MAJOR fail.
McGovern, not fantastic but does compete. Harry I think has improved somewhat and at this stage has passed Charlie??! WTF!
Murphy on the wing I think works and will extend his career, I believe, for some time.
Probably the best game I've seen Thomas play for a while.
Weitering started well but got worse towards the end (tired?)
Jones, rock solid I thought but will probably be getting a holiday for the off the ball incident with Reiwoldt.
Fish, love him but a bit rusty. Will improve
Cripps, bloody hell. What a player.
Phillips battled hard but his opponent kicked 3 goals. Tighten up.
Cunningham, SPS, Plowman, Dow were serviceable without being fantastic
Simmo played a good game I thought. Continues to surprise, but for how much longer?
Setterfield, not too bad. Was fumbly which is how he played in the JLT so that's a concern but willing to give him a few more weeks. Missing a goal from directly in front 40 metres out doesn't help.
I'm not going to go on about game plans. There's isn't real scientific nor is ours but they execute better (see my first point). However we do tend to over handball. Rather handball to a teammate that take the responsibility of kicking. Why?
Thought we'd do better, but that start killed us. Knew we'd spent our tickets in quarters 2 & 3 catching up. Thought Rance going down might help but we were too tired tired in the last to take advantage.
Very, vary annoyed at that effort.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Round 1 - Blues v Tigers (21 March) Pre-Game
Interesting Kennedy couldn't even get into the emergencies? Team looks good on paper with the exception of Garlett who makes me nervous. Think they're trying to re-invent a Chris Yarran type but he was much better.
Hope they can at least fight it out to the end ala last JLT v Collingwood. 4 quarter efforts is all I'm after.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: JLT Round 2 - Blues v Pies (11 March, Monday holiday)
Only saw the second half and for mine;
Negatives:
Charlie is playing badly and has to stop trying the low percentage superstar stuff. Stop reading the press and do the team thing.
Our gameplan appears to be, bomb the ball long into the forward line and see what pans out.
Garlett, Polson, Thomas and McGovern.
Our backline is struggling with quick entries and on kick ins.
Room for improvement:
Setterfield. Kicking for goal.
Positives:
Midfield. Kept at it until the end. They seem to be manning up a lot better when defending.
Think we have heaps to improve on.
Really happy with how Weitering is playing.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Casboult to CHB
Not smart enough, not fast enough and not hard enough. This is it for Levi, just can't see him getting a gig at all in the seniors this year even if we had another horrific run with injuries. I reckon he'll even struggle at the bullants.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: 2019 AFL Fixture
Love it. As someone who is actively involved with local footy on a Saturday, it means I can get to no less than seven Sunday games. Also means I don't have to put up with the journos and media types banging on about how much we don't deserve ad nauseam. Think this pleases me more!

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: 2018 Rd 20: Post Game Calm & Civilized Discussion: Carlton vs GWS
Another abysmal display. It  was embarrassing.  They were alternating between 17 and 16 players on the ground in the last and actually looked prepared to run more while our blokes were happy to job around chasing arse. So many passengers still getting a game due to our lack of depth.
Oh and thanks to the umps for really driving the dagger in. Pathetic display.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: 2018 Rd 18: Post Game Partying: Carlton vs Gold Coast
There's a rumor floating around that Christian has recommended to Hocking that Cripps gets offered a week for the Swallow tackle, but the AFL has yet to tick off on the recommendations! If Cripps isn't cleared it's going to be bullcrap! :o

There is seriously something wrong with our game if Cripps gets rubbed out for tackling a bloke. What has this great game become?
