Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Rd 19 - Carlton vs Fremantle (In Game)
Walker has been good for nothing in the first quarter. I'm not convinced watching him defend. He can't spoil, and shanks his kicks either out on the full or directly to the Dockers players. Shift him into the middle and shift Murphy there too. Not happy as we were playing well and gave the Dockers space to pinch the last 3 goals of the quarter. Have a look at the grilling Robbo is getting from Mick. That look, that stare.

50/50 this game..Freo have had a good year and deserve to be favourites IMO. , we also are consistent at being knocked over by the better teams.
Kruezer and Judd need to play blinders IMO....Judd needs to turn the tables on Crowley who has been his master and Kruezer needs to negate the Giant and win some footy around the ground ,run the big Freo ruckman into the ground, and make that crook toe of his hurt bad...

Stomp on that toe just to make sure. I get a feeling Judd and Kreuzer will do just fine. Mick will have a small fine tune on the game plan to take it out of Freos hands. They are not to full strength and its time to belt them a beauty. Especially if we can get them turning over the footy. Keep the pressure up and the game will swing our way. Betts needs to play for his contract. Yarran has a point or two to prove. Judd has been quiet for too many games. This is the one. This is the game that sets us up for potential finals. Hawks and Cats have been rolled by the Tigers and Roos. Its the week of sides beating teams above them on the ladder. ;)

Our speed and quick accurate ball movement will be key against this mob, they are the no.1 defensive side in the comp. Gotta spread them and run hard to be any chance.

I'm happy with this under one condition. We better be prepared to run hard back the other way if we turn the ball over. they are fit and run well when they are on fire. We need to grab every opportunity and score the 6 points. They are a very defensive side and they will try to dry up our supply of the pill in the forward 50m. I'm confident we can and should win this game. Just score the easy shots on goal. make every score count. Go get em guys. Drill them a new one.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: RD 18 : Blues Scorch Suns (Post-Siren Sunburn)
I missed the entire 3rd quarter and the first 10mins of the last quarter. I need to see the replay before I can make many comments. Some negatives and positives from todays game. I think Curnow is now beginning to move along well and is developing into a mid that deserves respect. You cannot under-estimate his ability to shut your game down, while still getting the pill and creating opportunities to move forward.

We need to be careful as a playing group not to be too cute or go backwards before moving forward too often. I watched us take time checking our direct opponents at times, and were caught flat footed when they burst forward on a rebound. The Suns have genuine pace and have footy smarts working for them. They are not as green as the Giants. I'm happy we won this game. Not the best game I have watched but I need to see the full game still. Move on, next. Fremantle gives us our best chance of beating them with their injury issues. If we can't beat them here next week, we can't beat them anywhere, anytime in the near future. We need Waite in for his X-factor.

The Sports Desk / Re: Stuart O'Grady retires then admits to doping
Its not a great way to end a career at all. Its a shame such as respected Australian cyclist has stained his reputation. I was always under an illusion that Australian athletes in cycling were clean and followed rules. I guess I was mistaken as the sport, sponsors and money involved have made the sport come to the lowest of lows in the last dozen years or so. There is hope the sport will recover, and there is a chance this problem of doping/substance use will be eliminated once and for all.

It still gets me how Lance Armstrong got away with his issues for so many years. How he lied. How he went out on a path to destroy the lives and careers of those who accused him of wrong doing. Still love cycling as a sport. It will take more than what I have seen in the media over the years to stop enjoying cycling. Its just a shame that people don't understand that "Cheats never prosper" in the end. Short term yes, but not long term. ???

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Rd 18 Pre game ponderings: Holiday on the Gold Coast or Disaster at Carrarra?
What is with the asterisks ?? Couldn't see a legend to answer my question.
Sorry, it was a feature of the website where I found the team. It doesn't add anything, but I didn't have the time to get rid of them. I was too lazy.

Oh. No its fine Crash, you work hard enough finding the attachments. Not lazy at all, and in fact I really appreciate you keeping us up to date with what is going on. I thought it might be a cut and paste type issue (or something coming from another website), but asked just in case it had something to do with players back from injury, first timers, seniors etc. Just asking and thanks for letting me know. Us bugs don't know way too much you know. ;D

You guys had a dream last night while I had a night mare. Essenscum get off with a small warning and still win a flag this year and next season too. Why didn't someone wake me up to save me so much pain ?? :o

I like MM's philosophy "it's my way or the highway!" Any player who has a problem with what he wants to do and how he wants to do it will not be there sooner or later, and will be replaced with more willing people.

This is what we've needed for a long time - break up the cliques, break up the nests of favourites, clear out the white ants. Seen it many times over my career in the corporate world - leaders who don't do this fail.

The old, "Some will some won't, so what next". Exit those who won't and enter those who will, without any feeling of any guilt at all. Build a team to will themselves to win. This is life. This is our team goal. Simple and fact. ;)

Some one must tag Ablett, even 30 disposals with some under presssure is better than 49 touches, all quality.

I'd get Carrazzo to run with Ablett, Cachia to run with O'Meara and Curnow to run with Bennell. Limit those 3 influence and we'll be a chance.

I would like to agree with you here because their mids cause more damage than they have in the past. Their confidence is up. Playing over there will help them in terms of crowd support. We just can't under-estimate their motivations to win against us. Must get on top early and grind them out of the game. Kill the run in the middle of the ground to start with. Kill their supply. Kill, kill, kill.

I agree our second half of footy against North had us tackle better and more often. Still think we have to improve far more in this area of our game if we are to be serious about finals footy. We are still seen as making up the numbers if we make the top 8. Still too many commentators rate us as ordinary and average.

I can see why, but I can also see where there will come a time they will all eat their words. Yarran and a few players really need to get more into the game early and get the one percenters done along with 2nd and 3rd efforts. Mick is watching every move and the axe could swing at the end of the season for some. I can see where we are better and it is definitely not having blow outs, and being in the game for a potential victory in almost every game. I can also see a small top up of the right mix of players making us a dangerous squad.

Mick has found a way of making our "B" and "C" grade players more accountable and value to the squad. This is good because it makes it difficult to get a game just based on past reputations. No more favourite players or special treatment. A few players have been a part of making their starting chances questionable. Maybe injury has had something to do with this, but we find it odd at times why players are selected for games. Players executing game instructions appear to be on Micks favoured list. Do the role your required and you will be a chance to play. This has not been the way things have always been for our club in the past.
