Robert Heatley Stand / Re: 2017 Round 4 : Post Game thread - Carlton V Gold Coast
Daisy was booed during the player intros, copped flak during the game from our supporters and even on the way home on the train the talk wasnt about Zac Fisher's goal or nice debut it was all about Daisy and what a waste of time he is....

Getting booed is BS, especially your own. You can't blame the opposition supporters for it, as its Gold Coast and they have none.
People should be ashamed of that.

One thing these same people probably failed to see was what happened during the run through.
There were 2 young girls who were the mascots for the game. Ran through the banner and did some running around and warmups with the boys. Almost all of them ignored the girls. Daisy went to them and was talking to them about how to stretch and what not.

Now none of that means squat once the ball is bounced, but those girls will remember that for the rest of their lives and will be forever grateful to Daisy for it.
However, things like that go a large way to fixing the culture at Carlton and are in line with what Bolton has been preaching within The Journey.

Now i don't know if anyone else noticed that, or if anyone else cared.
But that is the guy people are booing.  :-[

Too much of our good work in trying to move the ball quickly has been undone by skill errors or poor disposal. I'm hoping the new guys will start to make a difference by eliminating this on a dry track. Kerridge (poor disposal) and Graham (slow/poor disposal) being dropped is part of this drive.

Been dropped before getting a game! Harsh.

I think you mean Palmer. ;)

Plowman's efficiency is becoming consistent as well as close to perfect. In fact the back six are building on what was a good 2016. Imagine, we've got young Byrne to come back mid season. That will be very interesting times for selectors.

Loving watching our journey unfold.

Go new Blues

Don't get carried away with disposal efficiency of backmen. Half of their disposals are switching the play under no pressure.
They almost always outdo midfielders, who are under more pressure with their disposals, and it shows in the %'s.
However, i'd take a few midfielders skills over backmen despite what the %'s say. ;)

Ed is but a tradesman but did an immense amount of heavy work inside today.

Pickett shows glimpses but looks like a player who hasnt played a lot of footy.

A few blokes at cheats FC overrated, past it or been a bit pumped up by the media.

IMO we got a better than normal run with the umps in the end.

What have you got against trademen?

Without tradesmen the world would crumble.
Same with the footy side.
We have a few like that in the side that people seem to constantly point fingers at.
Curnow, White....even Rowe in the past.

Going to have to wait and watch on replay.
What a great win though, if we were to win one game and that game influenced Essendon missing finals I would just about be prepared to accept that season.

6 players with 8 or more tackles including Kreuzer and 2 kids.

Great work blue boys

Yep. A win against the bombers in any given year, is a good year.

The Match Committee may have any number of reasons for selecting / dropping players. I wish Tom all the best. I've not seen him play, but the description on the CFC website say he's a defender / mid, with speed.

Agree.

Could be little niggles. Or pre-arranged games.

Smedts is a lot bit older than Williamson, but potentially is giving us less than what Kerridge would. Play a kid, but partner that with a more mature body.

Pominoz

I'm blueycarlton just an occasional poster on this and other forums.
Both my parents and their parents were Carlton supporters, so the family's allegiance goes back into the 19th century. My dad first took me to Princes Park in the late 1950's. He grew up not far from the ground and I've been told he knew a few people at the club back then. So my children did not have any choice when it comes to Carlton. When I was 11 or 12 I used to get bouts of tonsillitis and be off school for a week or so and our doctor on a home visit brought a copy of The Carlton Story pub. 1958 to read. I was amazed at the history of the club.
So many, many years later when I stumbled onto the newly created Blueseum,  I was in blue heaven, and as no-one was doing the Pre VFL section I jumped in.

So now I'm heavily involved with the Carlton history web-site, Blueseum (www.blueseum.org)
Blueseum has a bio page on every Carlton player from 1864 onwards, more than 2100 players, plus Reserve and Under 19 grade players. The site currently has over 40,000 images including many team photos dating from 1868 onwards. Pre VFL Image pages, and year by year Image Galleries from 1897. Year by year details with most match details 1864-1896 and then round by round pages for each year from 1897 onwards. Stories about Princes Park, articles, memorabilia, membership tickets, etc. etc.

It's a real treasure trove of all things Carlton.

To all you Carlton barrackers out there, volunteers are most welcome to contribute to Blueseum.

I have contributed to that site as has quite a few others.
