Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Community Cup Carlton vs St. Kilda
So the prez is the problem?

It does start at the top though right?

A good president finds, appoints and supports a good CEO and they both do the same for coaches, recruiters, list managers, etc.
The crapstorm around SOS departure is just the most visible symptom but the root problem at the club has been attracting really genuine gun person as President.

That's my view on it anyway. We're always going to be pushing crap up a hill until we are able to appoint a decent president.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Best 22 in 21
Always interesting to see who the scribes believe are our best 22, with all things being equal.

Rebecca Williams (Herald Sun) has put her thoughts on paper.......

BEST 22 FOR NEXT SEASON:

FB: Lachie Plowman, Liam Jones, Caleb Marchbank

HB: Sam Docherty, Jacob Weitering, Adam Saad

C: Marc Murphy, Ed Curnow, Sam Walsh

HF: Jack Martin, Charlie Curnow, Jack Newnes

FF: Zac Fisher, Harry McKay, Eddie Betts

FOLL: Tom De Koning, Patrick Cripps, Zac Williams

IC: Sam Petrevski-Seton, Mitch McGovern, Will Setterfield, Levi Casboult

Interesting the omissions......Silvagni, Dow, O’Brien, Kennedy, Stocker, Kemp, Newman, Pittonet, Cunningham, Williamson, Gibbons, Cotrell.  Also, no room for Lachie Fogarty, Corey Durdin, Luke Parks, Jack Carroll along with Ramsay, Honey and Philp.

Whether you agree with the selected 22 or not, the depth is looking pretty good.

Surely Williamson can force his way in ahead of one of those? Plowman hopefully. I'd have Newman ahead of him also.

Sammo has a long way to go but I think he's not really a half back.

Teague has got to trust some of our younger players in the middle. Running with Pitto Cripps ed and Setterfield again isn't going to get us very far. Treacle slow.

Dekonig Cripps Williams and Walsh should be the first choice but Cunningham showed a bit in the middle when given a chance. Sammo too - I still remember that 30+ game he had when he tore the Dogs apart. Ed has never had a game like that in his career. Setters neither.

Jack took out Fyfe which won us a game. Did the same with Oliver then went forward and kicked 3.

Dow needs to get fit but if he does he's a midfielder and don't pick him as a fwd pocket.

There are options in the midfield. Teague needs to start trusting them more.

Even Stocker. Plays all his career as an inside mid, gets to the AFL and then he's a half back flank. If you want a half back recruit a half back.

Fair call.

I also think for most of these people it wouldn't be the first time they took drugs and got violent. Yet somehow it's seen as a mitigating factor in court.

Oh I didn't know what I was doing cos I was on drugs.

I'd say You knew you'd become violent yet you took the drugs anyway therefore cop additional punishment.

Not sure that would help but something has to change.

What a bunch of B-graders.

Holding press conferences outside adult book stores, laughed out of court the next - now works himself into such a sweaty frenzy his hair dye runs down his face.

Credibility off the charts.

Biden's speech earlier today was so refreshing because he didn't mention Trump once.

After 4 years of the guy sucking up all available media attention with his latest lot of deranged nonsense - I forgot what that was like.

Problem is, Jeza, we have a % of the population who aren't even sophisticated (or smart) enough to wear a mask, stay within 5km of their home, and not have birthday parties. They screw it for all of us because they think none of it applies to them.

Dan et al had hours and days, not weeks and months, to implement a workable plan.  They simply went with lowest common denominator,  because it is the lowest common denominators that this virus absolutely thrives upon.

I am no fan of what we have to put up with, but pretending it will just go away is mindless. And don't even get me started about the idiots dancing on St Kilda beach.......

I agree. Not saying we need to throw away the masks and reopen today in true Karen style.

But where's the sophistication here? This focus on pure indefinite lockdown with no precise tactics designed to keep us safer than we were last time fills me with absolute dread because the same thing is going to happen.

Anyway - that's enough ranting for one day.
