For mine there were several players that haven't yet played a game in the seniors and whilst not ready yet looked to have afl quality in them.
In no order:
Rainbow - running goal and bomb from outside 50 was gold Glass makasker - good decision maker and clean skills Silvagni - got all the tricks, lovely set shot but ha quiet patches Gowers - tough hombre and is a great size with good skills
Buckley was pretty good also but we know what he would bring. Jacksh and jones were absolute garbage and not up to it imo
Agree with all that, DVR is running out of time though. I really want him to make it as he is a nice mover and has that silky smooth left foot.
People forget that, although we won some games, the primary objectives for this year is setting standards and player/list development.
We won't be giving guys games JUST because they are young or get a few kicks in the magoos.
Sustained adherence to the tasks set to the players is what matters. People whingeing at the MC for picking Tutt, White, Walker etc need to be directing their disappointment at DVR, Jaksch, Foster, Gowers, Buckley etc for not performing well enough to warrant a call up.
Gorringe only got selected because we had nobody else to ruck.
You should all get used to this because this is what it takes to set standards!
My personal opinion is if Lamb and Sumner play in VFL their output wouldnt be more than DVR and Graham.. acttually Sumners output would not come close to Graham he is not productive enough. DVR has some weapons and need to bed youngsters in AFL when they reach 20-21
Agree Re DVR, dont entirely agree with Lamb and Sumner as they have been ok for us thus far. Graham has been tried and isn't good enough, especially with BBs game plan, is a top up player at best. Wouldn't be surprised if he is delisted when his current contract is up.
I may be mistaken but I thought I saw him in the rooms at the GWS game. I thought I saw him listening in to a conversation btw Barker at the players, it may have been someone else though.
My favourite footy show was Before the Game on a Saturday night with Lehmo, molloy, Hughesy, Sam lane and Maher.
I really used to enjoy cracking a can and listening to their banter, then they tried to go head to head on a thursday night with TFS and didn't last too long after that. Shame really.
Tutt has been averaging almost 30 touches a game and is super quick, Josh Fraser has been singing his praises. Can he finally transfer that VFL form into regular senior games. I'd like him to. At 25 he is still young enough to make a decent fist of it.
One thing that's been glaringly obvious this year to me is the "cans" and the "cannots" stick out like dogs proverbials. Those who get the new game plan have embraced it with confidence and have flourished. Those who don't have struggled and have banished or left to practice it in the 2's. Jamo for instance is the prime example where in the games he has played, he seemed lost at sea. Tutt may be going great guns in the 2's and if form warrants it and there is a spot, he should get a go in the 1's. Whether he is a "can" or a "cannot" will be seen very, very quickly. When executed well, we seem to be able to beat anyone, when not executed well, we cant beat an egg (e.g St Kilda with multiple outs). It is brutal and ruthless that's for sure. Go Blues.
