Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Rd 10: Pre Game Premonitions: Carlton vs Geelong
He has the look of a bloke that lacks self-belief...if anyone can get the best out of him it will be someone like Bolton.
I wouldn't wipe him yet.
He has the size, and a bit of athleticism.

I'd like to see how he goes  when he's not shouldering a big burden like last night.
Fair enough, could he play a high fwd/big mid role I wonder? Let him run up and down the wing abit if he has such a big tank.

Go down and look at the NBs and hopefully you'll see that Jack Silvagni is an excellent work in progress.  We need to monitor Weitering very, very carefully over the next 13 weeks to ensure he is eased into the rigors. Jack is nowhere Weitering in development.  I'd bring in Wood to allow Gorringe to play the Casbout role and put Rowe down back and flick Everitt, he doesn't fit Bolton's prototype.
I think I know why GC let Gorringe go, he is too timid. For a 200cm and 100kg big man, he doesnt impose himself one iota. I saw this during the NAB games, nothing has changed.

We should have played Wood instead of Gorringe, Wood at least has some body strength and mongrel and would have made it more uncomfortable for Goldstein.
I would have thought anyone could do this under instruction. It doesnt take that much skill to make a prick of yourself, look at Mummy. Yes he is a good ruckmen but he also genuinely wants to hurt (legally) the other guy.

re: Thomas....thought we were weak against him and our small defenders never picked him up...

Bolton probably made one of his few mistakes for the season playing Gorringe only and not having some cover with Cameron Wood....

There was some intimidation from the North bigger bodies especially down back where players like Lamb ended up on Firitto and didnt enjoy the extra physical attention..

Walker and Everitt are no subsitute for Casboult either yet we often bombed the ball to let Tarrant and Thompson take easy marks....Jones at least gave some effort IMO...Everitt was playing like he was 5' 2 and 60kg....
Fair summation EB. Just on Walker, is it me or does he look like he is playing angry? Seems to me to sook up playing for free kicks alot.

Jones got in curtesy of playing closer to goal than Jaksch and kicking slightly more goals. Bizarre situation where Cas gets injured and our next best tall fwd isn't even an emergency. BB hates him.
Hate is a strong word jeza. I dont think BB "hates" anyone, but he is strong and uncompromising in his demands of the players. Read the article in the HS on him.

I have not personally seen him play this year but there have been plenty of reports to indicate that KJ has yet to reach the standards required of him for senior selection.
Unless he has been hampered by illness and injury, I now hold grave fears for KJ's ability to make it. He should be well and truly "firing a shot" by now. Something is not right.

Thanks GTC.

I think given our outs, the club has done pretty good damage limitation work. On paper, that group doesn't look too bad. Realistically, I don't see how the club could've done much better.
Agree. Dont know how good or bad Gorringe has been in the 2's but I guess its irrelevant now. I am sure BB has told him:
- Take hold of your opportunity
- Rip into every ruck contest as hard as you can and absolutely give it to Goldy. Especially the first one, needs to hurt him (legally) if possible.
He cant match him for talent, he can match him for effort and physicality.
