Robert Heatley Stand / VFL Rd 18: Northern Blues vs Richmond
This Saturday at 1400 at Ikon.
When we last played Richmond it was a practice match and we pounded them by 10 goals or more. We had Silvagni playing. though.
Richmond haven't set the world on fire, but last week we were particularly ordinary. A lot of guys need badly to respond.

Robert Heatley Stand / Rd 20: Pre Game Anticipation: Carlton vs St Kilda
Sunday 7th August at the MCG at 1310 in the afternoon. This game should be the return of Marc Murphy. However, that will depend on his ankle, which has not been standard fare.
We probably NEED Murphy. St Kilda killed us at Etihad in the midfield where their ruck dominance (something not expected) gave their pacy mids the opportunity to really hurt us. Getting the ball out of the centre as easily as they did lead to our defence being under pressure and not being able to set up. As a result Membury kicked enough goals to bury us.
Now our ruck stocks will probably be stronger than at Etihad and the 'Aints will not be advantaged by their favourite surface, but we have to show that we have learnt from that debacle.

Robert Heatley Stand / Jim Park Voting: Rd 19: Carlton vs Hawthorn
Another game I won't be seeing live or on TV: the downside of not having pay TV. :( So, I am unlikely to vote this week: not enough real data to base realistic votes on.
Nichevo. Hopefully the rest of you can fill in for my misfortune.

Remember:
[1] At least 3 players need to get a mention.
[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player.
[3] Give a rating of team performance. It can be anywhere from A+ to F.
[4] Votes must add up to 15.

Edit: I am an idiot. Do I know who we are playing?

Robert Heatley Stand / VFL Rd 17: Northern Blues vs Werribee
This week's game is something of an oddity: we are on TV! Amazing as it sounds, it is true. The Blues play Werribee at Werribee on Sunday, with the game starting at 1140.
Werribee have been very ordinary lately, but won last week for the first time in ages.
The Blues are probably not going to be any stronger: one key forward will be out at least replacing Charlie Curnow. However, our emergencies should play.

Robert Heatley Stand / Rd 19: Pre Game Prayers: Carlton vs Hawthorn
One of the hardest tasks in football is bearding the Lion in it's Den: in this case playing Hawthorn in Tasmania. One of life's little ironies is that Hawthorn's Tasmania base is a former pub started by my Great Great Grandfather, just over the river from the ground. I feel like ordering these Johnnie - come - latelies out while the adults come to town, but ..... :)

The student vs. the master: I hope Bolts can give Clarkson what the Doctor gave the Master. :) Maybe what the Rebels gave the Death Star. That would be good, as we look to dethrone the Evil Empire.

Robert Heatley Stand / Jim Park Voting: Rd 18: Carlton vs Sydney
It is nice to be on free to air TV for a change. We must be almost a permanent feature on Fox. Hopefully there will be plenty of players who deserve a mention this week. :)

Remember:

[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player.
[3] Give a rating of team performance. It can be anywhere from A+ to F.

Enjoy!

Robert Heatley Stand / Rd 18: In Game Angst: Carlton vs Sydney
I've got into the habit of naming the In Game thread 'Angst'. As much as anything, it is probably because that is how I feel until the siren goes and I get a flood of Dopamine through my brain (assuming that we win. :) :) ). I am never certain until the game is over and I always want the Blues to run out the 4 quarters.
It is worse when the game is Interstate and I can't get there and especially bad when the game is not on TV. At least this game is on TV in Victoria, even though it is an hour and a half behind. Not sure about next week: Channel 7 do things in strange ways.

Anyway, enjoy!

Robert Heatley Stand / Rd 18: Pre Game Polite Discourse: Carlton vs Sydney
Saturday 23rd July at in Sydney.
I definitely will not be attending. Although one day I will have to see us in Sydney, as I haven't done that yet.

That said, it is not a high probability that we will win. Sydney seems to have to wood over us at the moment, and I don't like that.

Robert Heatley Stand / Jim Park Voting: Rd 17: Carlton vs West Coast
I'll be at this one and I've missed too many this year. But at least my votes will make sense, assuming they ever make sense. :))
I guess will have to make the most of this week, as, unless the games are actually being televised for a change, I don't expect to see much of the next 2 games (being in Sydney and Launceston). With our relatively poor showing in recent times the number of voters has dropped off: I can understand that. But I would like to put my 2 cents worth in (and do encourage as many of you as possible to vote, as it makes the voting system work better), so it frustrates me not knowing enough to reasonably contribute.
