Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Rd 7 2025 Post Game Prognostications Carlton vs Geelong

"A moment that shaped the national identities of both Australia and New Zealand, Geelong's ANZAC guernsey pays tribute to the bravery, resilience and sacrifice of the ANZACs.

The guernsey features an illustrative representation of the Gallipoli landscape and its four natural elements — the sky, the hills, the beach and the water — which have all been thoughtfully intertwined between the traditional navy hoops, creating a powerful visual story of place and remembrance."

I'm sure it was supposed to mean something, but from where I was sitting, it didn't say much.
Dear wife said 'art smock' 😄

On a side note, did anyone make sense of the Geelong jumper.  Looked like every player had slid across the paint on the ground.

I did assume there would be a good ANZAC story behind it (a little too lazy to look it up). Still, graphically,  I don't think it was a winner, just looked like a blue smudge to me.

Blah-Blah Bar / Re: General Discussions
I tried to give blood today but never again!

It’s bureaucracy gone mad with too many stupid questions:

Whose blood is it?
Where did you get it from?
Why is it in a bucket??
I've been giving for a number of years and yes, there are a fair amount of Qs, many more than in years gone by. But...I fully understand the requirement for thorough checks and I'm sure you would be hard pressed to come up with good reasons why the Qs should not be asked.
Hopefully you reconsider - it is a wonderful gift that some of us can give and it is always needed. We are so lucky to live in a country where this service exists. Imagine needing blood or plasma products to survive or to help you live a 'normal' life and it not being available.
Also, I find it a very relaxing experience (plasma taking longer means a longer sit in the comfy recliner).

At around the 26 minute mark of the third quarter, Weitering was pinged for holding the ball when Curtis brought him to the ground in the forward pocket.  How did Curtis bring Weiters down? He hooked his right leg around Weiters' leg and tripped him.  It should have been Weiters' free and, after SDK's and Keane's fines, the MRO should be relieving Curtis of some of his hard earned.  I suspect that Christian will turn a blind eye.
Agree fully, a free kick at a very minimum. But I must admit I didn't see it until the 'tackle' was replayed

Silvagni and Kemp are similar types for us, but i've noticed one big difference between them

One big difference between them is Kemp drops to his knees constantly and is out of the contest.
Silvagni refuses to go to his knees and stays in the contest with multiple efforts.

Agree.
One of those things in footy that is hard to quantify but the ability to keep your feet and not go to ground makes such a huge difference,  some players just manage that better

Haynes - will be (one of) the whipping boys this week I'm sure and I was as disappointed as much as anyone. He seemed to fumble and drop marks - generally looked like he was lacking touch.
On the upside he did get to many contests and moved well enough. I'm hoping it was a blip on the radar and he will be better for the run. I wouldn't be writing him off yet. Walsh was far from his best - add to that list Kemp, McGovern - all players we know can play. No need to throw out the baby with the bath water.
