Robert Heatley Stand / Re: How will we line up in 2025.
With a full list with no injuries, we could be a very difficult side to match up on with one on one contests. Don’t write Cerra off just yet. I was not certain he would be anything special when we picked him up. I had suspicions he would eventually be a failure. Injuries killed our 2024 season. The “no excuses” theory stands strong but not the number of 1st and 2nd tier players we had out over the entire season. I hope Jagga and one of the Campo boys get some exposure this season. I hope we can see more of Moir. I hope we get a good run with Doc and SOSOS. I hope we see some improvement with consistent game standard from TDK. Our window is just about to open and I hope we can strike at the right moment. Cripps won’t last forever. He can’t carry the squad anymore. I will be keen to see if the Campo gene has been transferred to the new boys. I am very excited about season 2025. Nervous due to previous years of injuries. Hopefully this will be fixed once and for all.

Easy to say but hard to replicate. How much hurt is around missing a win in the Preliminary final last year? Playing the same side again that we were leading by 5 goals plus early in the contest. I don’t see us winning this by who runs out on the field. I think it will be about desperation to do whatever it takes to win with attitude. I have no confidence in this game, but I am happy to see that I am wrong. Pick a few players that want to win at any cost. Willing to do what ever it takes. Curnow will be a huge loss. More goals need to come from the midfield players. Their squad have many match winners but they can be hot and cold depending on the pressure applied by direct opponents. Can we apply the heat early and keep it going for 4 quarters? That is the question. Playing away has nothing to do with it. You either need it desperately or you make up the top 8 numbers.

Loss by 2 goals against the Hawks on the rise. Even if they struggle against GWS and lose this week. It will drive them to win at any cost on the rebound and kills our chance of finals. If they win against GWS it will be even worse. They will be sky high with confidence and teach our squad how to play football. I have no confidence in our next contest. We peaked at the wrong time of the season. Way too early.

Sad comment yet true at this point in time. When you lose 4 of your last 5 and only beat the team sitting near last, it is safe to say something is wrong and close to season over. We will lose to the Hawks next by the way we are playing. You cannot pencil that game in as a win. Top 4 finish and a double chance is looking unlikely.

Our current form indicates a loss against a side we struggle to beat. Match up to well against but struggle to beat convincingly. Loss by 3 points as my guess. In the dying seconds of the match. After a 4 goal lead early in the game and manage to let the result slip away. Probably with some help from the umpires decisions. We don’t know how to stop the blood flow when the momentum swings the other way in the recent 4 games. When you only score one goal in the second half, against a side that has to travel interstate, you are in poor form. With or without injuries. Just my opinion but we could be in trouble very soon. “The season that could have been huge”.

If Collingwood win against the Tigers and find some confidence they will beat us without too much effort. We struggle to beat them when we are in the best of form. Our ins vs outs make no difference. We are behind the 8 ball in this game. 4 goals Collingwoods way as a result. I hope it isn’t more which it could be.

Looks like a repeat of last season. Finish out of the top 4. Cop difficult finals and a final away where we have to travel to end our finals hopes.  Seriously thought this could have been a year to win a flag a few games ago. Based on current form this is nowhere near the case. Brisbane, Fremantle and GWS will push us down the 5th soon. Maybe we have become what Richmond was when they were Ninthmond. Maybe we could become Fifthton. Even though injuries are killing us, our lack of desperation to get the job done is half our problem. We won’t find extra pace and speed, or class in the remaining games this season. Imagine West Coast is the only win we get from here on and miss the 8. Are we only making up the numbers in the top 8? Losing to GWS, Bulldogs and Port suggests we are not genuine. Last season we beat 8 out of 9 teams to end the season and teams in the top 8. Maybe the wheels have fallen off. In a worse position than last season. At least we carried form through to finals. Should have left this a day later to reflect on what to post. Very poor back half of the season so far. Can’t find a way to win 5 or 6 games in a row as the top sides generally can. No confidence for our next 2 outings. None at all.

The Brisbane club and fans would be up in arms.
But so would every other team in contention.
We need to finish in the top 2
And with 2 games and a huge percentage between us and the Swans...that kinda narrows it down to one spot in particular.

If we don't finish second, chances are we'll be travelling somewhere not close.

This is exactly why our remaining games are so critical even though we have so many injuries to cover.  With GWS, Freo, Brisbane, and Port breathing down our necks, we don’t want any finals games in their home territory. We saw what happened last year when we had to travel to Brisbane for the preliminary final. That didn’t end well at all. We need to be careful of Hawthorn. They have found some real form. Some real belief and confidence. I hope we beat Port with a real short break. Not enough rest time after the encounter against North Melbourne. We can only hope as anything is possible this end of the season.
